The Acts of the Apostles

A Christogenea commentary On the Gospel of John has recently been completed. Many passages simply do not say what the modern churches think they mean! Don't miss this important and ground-breaking work proving that Christian Identity is indeed fully supported by Scripture.

A Commentary on Genesis is now being presented. Here we endeavor to explain the very first book of the Christian Bible from a perspective which reconciles both the Old and New Testaments with archaeology and ancient history, through eyes which have been opened by the Gospel of Christ.

A Commentary on the Epistles of Paul has been completed at Christogenea.org. This lengthy and in-depth series reveals the true Paul as an apostle of God, a prophet in his own right, and the first teacher of what we call Christian Identity.

Don't miss our recently-completed series of commentaries on the Minor Prophets of the Bible, which has also been used as a vehicle to prove the historicity of the Bible as well as the Provenance of God.

The Acts of the Apostles

William Finck also has an online commentary for the Acts of the Apostles here at Christogenea.org

I 1 That first account I had made concerning all things, O lover of Yahweh, which Yahshua continued both to do and to teach, 2 until that day He was taken up, commanding the ambassadors whom He had chosen through the Holy Spirit, 3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, with many proofs, appearing to them over forty days and speaking of the things concerning the Kingdom of Yahweh, 4 and gathering together He instructed them not to depart from Jerusalem but to “await the promise of the Father which you have heard of Me, 5 because Iohannes immersed in water, but you shall be immersed in the Holy Spirit after not many days hence”. 6 So then they who were gathered asked Him, saying “Prince, then at this time shall You restore the Kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them: “It is not yours to know the times or the seasons which the Father has placed in His own authority. 8 Rather you shall receive power of the Holy Spirit coming upon you and you shall be My witnesses in both Jerusalem and in all Judaea and Samareia, and unto the end of the earth.”

9 And speaking these things, upon their watching He was lifted up and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing into heaven upon His going, then behold, two men in white clothing stood by them. 11 And they said “Men, Galilaians, why do you stand looking into the heaven? This Yahshua, who is taken up from you into the heaven, thusly shall He come in the manner which you have beheld Him going into the heaven.”

12 Then they returned into Jerusalem from the mountain called “of Olives”, which is near to Jerusalem, being a Sabbath day’s journey. 13 And when they had come in, they went up into the upper room where they were staying, both Petros and Iohannes, and Iakobos and Andreas, Philippos and Thomas, Bartholomaios and Maththaios, Iakobos son of Alphaios, and Simon the zealot and Iouda the brother of Iakobos. 14 All of these were persisting with one accord in prayer, with the women and Mariam the mother of Yahshua and His brethren.

15 And in those days, Petros standing in the midst of the brethren spoke, (and the multitude of names there in that place were about a hundred and twenty,) 16 “Men, brethren, it is necessary for the writing to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit before spoke through the mouth of David concerning Ioudas who had been a guide for those who seized Yahshua, 17 because he was counted among us and had obtained a share of this ministry. 18 So then he acquired a field from the wages of unrighteousness, and having been crashed face-down in the midst then all of his bowels had spilled out. 19 And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem, so as that field is called in their language ‘Akeldamach’, which is ‘Field of Blood’. 20 For it is written in the Book of Psalms: ‘His home must be desolate, and there must not be one dwelling in it’ and ‘Another must take his office’. 21 Therefore it is necessary, of the men gathering together with us during all the time in which Prince Yahshua came in and went out with us, 22 beginning from the immersing of Iohannes until the day when He was taken up from us, for one of them to become a witness with us of His resurrection.” 23 And they stood up two: Ioseph called Barsabbas who was surnamed Ioustos, and Maththias. 24 Then praying they said: “You, Prince, Knower of all hearts, show which one of these two You have chosen 25 to receive the place of this ministry and ambassadorship from which Ioudas has transgressed to go to his own place.” 26 And they gave lots to them and the lot fell upon Maththias and he was counted along with the eleven ambassadors.

II 1 And on the fulfillment of the fiftieth day they were all together in the same place. 2 And suddenly there came from the heaven a noise just as a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues like as fire being divided and set upon each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues just as the Spirit gave them to utter.

5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Judaeans, devout men from every nation under the heaven. 6 Then with the occurrence of this sound the multitude gathered and was confused, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 7 And they were astonished and wondered saying “Behold, are not all of these who are speaking Galilaians? 8 Then how do we each hear in our own language, with which we were raised? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites and those dwelling in Mesopotamia, and Judaea and Kappadokia, Pontos and Asia, 10 and Phrugia and Pamphulia, Egypt and the regions of Libua throughout Kurene, and the Romans who were sojourning – 11 both Judaeans and converts – Kretans and Arabs, we hear their speaking in our own tongues the magnificent things of Yahweh.” 12 And they were all astonished and perplexed, one saying to another: “What do you suppose this to be?” 13 But others scoffing said that “they are full of new wine.”

14 Then Petros standing with the eleven raised his voice and spoke out to them: “Men, Judaeans, and all of those dwelling in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and hearken to my words. 15 For they are not intoxicated as you suspect, indeed it is the third hour of the day! 16 Rather this is that which was spoken through the prophet Ioel: 17 ‘And it shall be in the days future, says Yahweh, I will pour out from My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your youths shall see visions, and your elders shall dream dreams. 18 And then upon My menservants and upon My maidservants in those days I will pour out from My Spirit and they shall prophesy. 19 And I shall make wonders in the heaven above, and signs upon the earth below, blood and fire and a vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming great day and appearance of Yahweh. 21 And it shall be that all who shall be called by the Name of Yahweh shall be preserved.’ 22 Men, Israelites, hear these words! Yahshua the Nazoraian, a man appointed for you by Yahweh with powers and wonders and signs which Yahweh had done through Him in your midst even as you yourselves know, 23 He by the appointed will and foreknowledge of Yahweh was surrendered, who crucifying through lawless hands you have slain! 24 Whom Yahweh has resurrected, having undone the travails of death, in which manner it was not possible for Him to be held by it. 25 Indeed David said for Him: ‘I saw Yahweh before my face continually, for He is on my right hand, that I am not shaken. 26 On account of this my heart has rejoiced, and my tongue has exulted, and further even my flesh shall rest in hope 27 because You shall not leave my soul behind in Hades, nor give over Your Sanctioned One to see corruption. 28 You have made known to me the ways of life. You shall fill me with gladness with Your presence.’ 29 Men, brothers, I had to speak with frankness to you concerning the patriarch David, because he also has died and is buried, and his tomb is among us unto this day. 30 Therefore being a prophet and one who knows that Yahweh had sworn an oath to him that one from the fruit of his loins is to sit upon his throne, 31 having foreseen he had spoken concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that He would not be left behind in Hades nor His flesh see corruption. 32 This is Yahshua whom Yahweh has resurrected, of whom all of us are witnesses. 33 Therefore having been exalted with the right hand of Yahweh, and having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, He has poured forth this, which you also see and hear. 34 For David had not gone up into the heavens, but he himself says: ‘Yahweh said to my Master, sit at My right hand, 35 until I shall place Your enemies as a footstool for Your feet.’ 36 Therefore all the house of Israel must know with certainty, that Yahweh also has made both His Prince and Christ that Yahshua whom you crucified!”

37 Now hearing they had pierced their hearts, and said to Petros and the rest of the ambassadors “Men, brothers, what should we do?” 38 And Petros to them: “Repent, it says, and each of you must be immersed in the Name of Yahshua Christ for remission of your errors and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all those in the distance, as many as the Prince our God should call.” 40 And with many other words he affirmed and exhorted them saying “You must be saved from this crooked race!” 41 So then those accepting his account were immersed and they added in that day about three thousand souls.

42 And they were firmly adhering to the teaching of the ambassadors and in the fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs came through the ambassadors. 44 And all those believing were in the same place and held all things in common. 45 And possessions and belongings they sold and distributed them to all just as anyone had need. 46 And each day persevering with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at each house, they partook of food in exultation and in simplicity of heart, 47 praising Yahweh and having goodwill toward all the people. And the Prince added to those being saved daily in that place.

III 1 Then Petros and Iohannes went up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth. 2 And a certain man, being lame from his mother’s womb, was carried, whom they set each day by that door of the temple called Horaios for which to beg charity from those going into the temple. 3 Who seeing Petros and Iohannes going to enter into the temple, asked to receive charity. 4 And Petros gazing at him with Iohannes said “Look at us!” 5 So he engaged with them, expecting to receive something from them. 6 Then Petros said “Silver and gold belong not to me, but that which I have, this I give to you: In the Name of Yahshua Christ the Nazoraian, walk!” 7 And grabbing his right hand he raised him, then immediately his feet and ankles were strengthened, 8 and springing up he stood and walked about and entered into the temple with them, walking about and leaping and praising Yahweh, 9 and all the people saw him walking about and praising Yahweh, 10 then they recognized him, that it was he sitting for charity at the Horaios gate of the temple, and they were filled with amazement and astonishment at that which happened to him.

11 Then upon his holding onto Petros and Iohannes, all the people amazed ran to them on the porch which is called Solomon’s. 12 And seeing it Petros responded to the people: “Men, Israelites, why do you wonder at this? Or why do you gaze at us as if our own power or piety made him to walk? 13 The God of Abraham and Isaak and Jakob, the God of our fathers, has honored His servant Yahshua whom you indeed handed over and denied in the presence of Pilatos who determined to release him. 14 But you denied the holy and righteous man and requested a murderous man to be pardoned for you. 15 Then you killed the Founder of Life whom Yahweh raised from among the dead, of whom we are witnesses. 16 And by the faith of His Name, he whom you see and know His Name has strengthened, and the faith which is through Him has given to him this soundness before all of you. 17 And now, brethren, I know that you acted ignorantly, just as also your rulers. 18 But Yahweh, the things which He announced beforehand through the mouths of all the prophets for His Christ to suffer, has fulfilled thusly. 19 Therefore you must repent and turn towards that which blots out your errors, 20 that the times of relief may come from the presence of Yahweh and He would send Him determined for you: Christ Yahshua, 21 whom it is indeed necessary for heaven to receive until the times of restoration of all which Yahweh had spoken through the mouths of the saints His prophets from of old. 22 While Moses said that ‘Yahweh your God shall raise up a prophet for you from among your brethren, even as me. Of Him you shall hear according to all things, as many as He shall speak to you. 23 And it shall be that every soul which would not hear that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ 24 Yet even all the prophets from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, also announced these days. 25 You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which Yahweh arranged with your fathers, saying to Abraham: ‘And in your offspring shall all the clans of the earth be blessed.’ 26 To you first Yahweh, raising His servant, sent Him blessing you, by which to turn each back from your wickedness.”

IV 1 And upon their speaking to the people, the priests and the officer of the temple and the Sadducees fell upon them, 2 being quite troubled on account of their teaching the people and declaring that at the hands of Yahshua is resurrection from the dead. 3 And they laid hands on them and put them in custody for the next day, since it was already evening. 4 But many of those hearing the Word had believed, and the number of the men was about five thousand.

5 And there was on the next day a gathering of them, the leaders and the elders and the scribes in Jerusalem, 6 and Hannas the high priest and Kaïaphas and Iohannes and Alexandros and as many as were of the race of the high priest, 7 and standing them in the midst they inquired, “By what power or by what name have you done this?” 8 Then Petros, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Leaders of the people and elders, 9 if we this day are examined for the benefit of the sick man, by what manner he was delivered, 10 it must be known by all of you and by all the people of Israel that in the Name of Yahshua Christ the Nazoraian, whom you crucified, whom Yahweh raised from among the dead, by Him he stands before you healthy. 11 He is the stone, who was set at naught by your builders, who has become the head cornerstone. 12 And there is no deliverance in any other, for there is not another name under the heaven which has been given among men by which it is necessary for us to be preserved.”

13 And observing the frankness of Petros and Iohannes, and perceiving that they are unlearned and unskilled men, wondering they then recognized them, that they were with Yahshua. 14 And looking at the man who was healed standing with them, they had nothing to say in reply. 15 Then bidding them to go outside of the council, they conferred with each other, 16 saying “What shall we do with these men? For indeed it is known that a visible sign has come through them by all those dwelling in Jerusalem, and we are not able to deny it! 17 But in order that it not be spread to a greater extent to the people we should threaten them not any longer to speak in this name to any of the men.” 18 And calling them they instructed them generally not to utter nor to teach by the Name of Yahshua. 19 But Petros and Iohannes replying said to them: “Whether it is just before Yahweh to listen to you, or rather to Yahweh, you decide. 20 For we are not able to not speak of the things which we have seen and we have heard.” 21 Then further threatening them they released them, not finding how they could restrict them on account of the people, because they all extolled Yahweh for that which happened. 22 For the man was older than forty years upon whom the sign of this healing had come.

23 And being released they went to their own countrymen and reported as much as the high priests and the elders said to them. 24 And those hearing with one accord raised a voice to Yahweh and said “Master! You who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all things in them, 25 who by the mouth of our father David your servant through the Holy Spirit said ‘Why do the nations rage, and the peoples practice vanities? 26 The kings of the earth made a stand, and the rulers gathered into one place against Yahweh and against His Anointed.’ 27 For in truth they gathered in this city against Your holy servant Yahshua, whom You anointed, both Herodas and Pontios Pilatos with the Nations and peoples of Israel, 28 to do as much as Your hand and will preordained to happen. 29 And now these things, Prince! You must look upon their threats and give to Your servants to speak Your Word with all frankness, 30 by which extending Your hand for healing and signs and wonders to happen through the Name of Your holy servant Yahshua.” 31 And upon their making supplication, the place in which they were gathered was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the Word of Yahweh with frankness.

32 And the multitude of those believing were of one heart and soul, and no one reckoned any of his belongings to be his own, but everything was common to them. 33 And with great power the ambassadors delivered the testimony of the resurrection of Prince Yahshua, and great favor was with them all. 34 Indeed neither was there any deficiency among them, for as many as were owners of farms or houses, selling them brought the proceeds of the things sold 35 and set it by the foot of the ambassadors, and they distributed to each just as any had need. 36 Then Ioseph, who was called Barnabas by the ambassadors, which is interpreted “son of consolation”, a Levite, a Kupriot by birth, 37 selling a farm belonging to him brought the money and set it before the feet of the ambassadors.

V 1 And a certain man named Hananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a property 2 and set apart some of the proceeds, and his wife being an accomplice, and having brought the one portion set it by the feet of the ambassadors. 3 Then Petros said “Hananias! Why has the Adversary filled your heart, for you to lie to the Holy Spirit and to set apart some of the proceeds from the land? 4 Did it not remain yours to have kept and was it in your own power to have sold? Why then did you set this deed in your heart? You did not lie to men but to Yahweh.” 5 And hearing these words Hananias falling expired, and great fear came upon all those hearing. 6 Then arising the young men wrapped him and carrying him out they buried him.

7 And an interval of about three hours transpired and his wife entered in, not knowing that which happened. 8 Then Petros responded to her: “Tell me, if you received so much for the land?” And she said “Yes, so much.” 9 And Petros to her “Why then was it agreed between you to test the Spirit of the Prince? Behold, the steps of those who have buried your husband are by the door, and they shall carry you off!” 10 And immediately she fell before his feet and expired. Then entering in the young men found her corpse and carrying her out they buried her with her husband. 11 And great fear came upon the whole assembly and upon all those hearing these things.

12 And through the hands of the ambassadors came many signs and wonders among the people, and they were all of one accord on the porch of Solomon. 13 And not one of those others dared to join with them, but the people exalted them. 14 And still more they added to those believing in the Prince, a multitude both of men and of women, 15 consequently even to bring out those with sicknesses into the streets and to set them upon cots and couches, that upon the coming of Petros even the shadow would overshadow some of them. 16 Then also came together a multitude from the cities around Jerusalem bearing the sick and those being troubled by unclean spirits, all of whom they healed.

17 Then stood up the high priest and all those with him, being of the sect of the Sadducees, filled with jealousy, 18 and laid the hands upon the ambassadors and put them in public custody. 19 But a messenger of the Prince by night opening the doors of the cell and leading them out said: 20 “You go, and standing you speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.” 21 And listening they went before dawn into the temple and taught. But arriving the high priest and those with him convened the council and all of the elders of the sons of Israel and they sent to the jailhouse to bring them. 22 But the attendants arriving did not find them in the cell, so returning they reported it 23 saying that “We found the jailhouse barred in all security, and those standing watch by the doors, but opening them we found no one inside!” 24 And as the officer of the temple and the high priests heard these words, they were perplexed concerning them, what could this have been. 25 But someone arriving announced to them that “Behold, the men whom you put into the cell are standing in the temple and teaching the people!” 26 Then going out the officer with the attendants brought them, not with force, for they feared the people lest they should be stoned.

27 And bringing them they stood them among the council. And the high priest questioned them 28 saying “Did we instruct you with instructions not to teach by this name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and you desire the blood of this man to be brought upon us!” 29 But replying Petros and the ambassadors said “It is necessary to be obedient to Yahweh rather than to men. 30 The God of our fathers raised up Yahshua, whom you had taken in hand, hanging upon a timber. 31 Him, Founder and Savior, Yahweh elevated to His right hand for which to give repentance and a remission of errors to Israel. 32 And we are witnesses of these words and the Holy Spirit which Yahweh has given to those who are obedient to Him.”

33 And those listening were cut through, and determined to kill them. 34 But there arose one in the council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law held in honor by all the people. He commanded the men to be put outside for awhile, 35 then he said to them: “Men, Israelites, take heed for yourselves what you are about to do to these men. 36 For before these days stood up Theudas, saying for himself to be somebody, to whom was attached a number of about four hundred men, who was slain and all as many as were persuaded by him dissolved and came to nothing. 37 After that arose Iouda the Galilaian in the days of the registration and people revolted behind him, and he was destroyed and all as many as were persuaded by him were scattered. 38 And now I say these things to you: distance yourselves from these men and release them, because if this counsel or this work should be of men, it shall be broken up, 39 but if it is from God, you shall not be able to break them up, lest then you are found fighting God.” And they were persuaded by him. 40 And calling forth the ambassadors, flaying them they instructed them not to speak by the Name of Yahshua and released them. 41 So then they went rejoicing from the presence of the council because they had been deemed worthy to be dishonored on behalf of the Name. 42 And every day in the temple and at each house they ceased not teaching and announcing the good message of Christ Yahshua.

VI 1 And in those days with the multiplying of students, there was a murmuring among the Hellenists towards the Hebrews, because in the daily administration their widows were neglected. 2 Then the twelve summoning the multitude of students said “It is not acceptable to us, abandoning the Word of Yahweh to serve tables. 3 But you consider, brethren, seven accredited men from among you, full of spirit and wisdom, whom we shall appoint over this business, 4 and we shall persist in prayer and in the attendance of the Word.” 5 And this word was satisfactory before all of the multitude and they selected Stephanos, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philippos and Prochoros and Nikanor and Timon and Parmenas and Nikolaos a convert of Antiocheus, 6 who stood before the ambassadors, and praying they laid the hands upon them. 7 And the Word of Yahweh was magnified and the number of students in Jerusalem multiplied exceedingly, and a great crowd of the priests were obedient in the faith.

8 And Stephanos, full of favor and power had done wonders and great signs among the people. 9 Then there arose some of those from the assembly hall called “of the Freedmen”, and of the Kurenaians and Alexandrians and of those from Kilikia and Asia disputing with Stephanos, 10 yet they were not able to withstand the wisdom and the spirit by which he spoke. 11 Then they suborned men, saying that “We heard him speaking blasphemous words in regard to Moses and God!” 12 And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes and coming upon him they seized him and led him to the council, 13 and false witnesses stood saying “This man does not stop speaking words against this holy place and the law! 14 For we heard him saying that this Yahshua the Nazoraian shall destroy this place and change the customs which Moses transmitted to us!” 15 And all those sitting in the council gazing at him saw his face as if it were the face of a messenger.

VII 1 Then the high priest said “So, do you hold these things to be thusly?” 2 And he said: “Men, brothers and fathers, listen! Yahweh of effulgence appeared to Abraham our father, who was in Mesopotamia before when he settled in Charran. 3 And He said to him ‘Depart from your land and from your kinsmen, and come to the land which I shall show to you.’ 4 Then departing from the land of the Chaldaeans he settled in Charran. And there after the death of his father He moved him into this land in which you are now settled, 5 and He had not given to him an inheritance in it nor a footstep, yet He promised ‘to give it to him for a possession and to his offspring after him,’ there not being a child with him. 6 But Yahweh had spoken thusly, that ‘It shall be that his offspring sojourns in a foreign land and they shall enslave them and mistreat them four hundred years. 7 And the nation in which when they shall be enslaved I shall judge, says Yahweh, and after these things they shall depart and they shall serve Me in this place.’ 8 And He gave to him the covenant of circumcision, and thus he begot Isaak and he circumcised him on the eighth day, and Isaak Jakob, and Jakob the twelve patriarchs.

9 “And the patriarchs being jealous of Ioseph gave him up to Egypt, yet Yahweh was with him 10 and delivered him from all of his afflictions and gave to him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh King of Egypt, and he appointed him governor over Egypt and over his whole house. 11 Then came a famine over the whole of Egypt and Chanaan and great affliction, and our fathers did not find food. 12 But Jakob hearing that there was grain in Egypt sent off our fathers the first time. 13 Then with the second time Ioseph was recognized by his brethren, and the family of Ioseph was made known to Pharaoh. 14 And Ioseph sending called for Jakob his father and all the kinsmen, with seventy-five souls. 15 And Jakob went down into Egypt and he died, and our fathers, 16 and they were moved to Suchem and buried in the tomb which Abraham bought for a price of silver from the sons of Emmor in Suchem. 17 Then just as the time approached of the promise which Yahweh had promised to Abraham, the people grew and were multiplied in Egypt, 18 until there stood another king over Egypt, who had not known Ioseph. 19 He dealing craftily with our race mistreated the fathers, causing their infants to be exposed for which not to be produced alive. 20 At that time Moses was born and was favored by Yahweh, who was raised in the house of his father three months, 21 but upon his being exposed he was taken up by the daughter of Pharaoh and he was raised up as her own son. 22 And Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was powerful in his words and deeds.

23 “And as forty years’ time were completed by him, he put up in his heart to visit his brethren the sons of Israel. 24 And seeing one being done wrong he defended him, and made an avenging for him being subdued, smiting the Egyptian. 25 And he expected the brethren to understand that Yahweh through his hand gives deliverance to them, but they did not understand. 26 Then the next day he appeared to those who were fighting and he reconciled them in peace saying ‘Men! You are brothers! For what reason do you do wrong to one another?’ 27 But he doing wrong to he near to him rejected him saying ‘Who appointed you ruler and judge over us? 28 Do you not desire to kill me in the manner that you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’ 29 And Moses fled upon this word and became a sojourner in the land of Madiam, where he had begotten two sons. 30 And completing forty years a messenger appeared to him in the desert at Mount Sinai in a flame of fire in a bush. 31 Then Moses seeing it wondered at the spectacle, and upon his going forth to observe it there came a voice from Yahweh: 32 ‘I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham and Isaak and Jakob’ and being in trembling Moses dared not observe it. 33 Then Yahweh said to him: ‘Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place upon which you stand is holy ground. 34 Seeing that I have seen the mistreatment of My people in Egypt and I have heard their moaning, then I have come down to set them free. And now come, I shall send you into Egypt.’ 35 This is Moses whom they refused saying ‘Who appointed you ruler and judge?’ Him Yahweh then sent as ruler and redeemer by the hand of a messenger which appeared to him in a bush. 36 He led them out making wonders and signs in the land of Egypt and in the Red Sea and in the desert forty years. 37 This is Moses who said to the sons of Israel: ‘Yahweh shall raise up a prophet for you from among your brethren, even as me.’ 38 This is he who had been among the assembly in the desert with the messenger speaking to him and to our fathers at Mount Sinai, who received the living oracles to give to you. 39 To whom our fathers did not wish to be obedient, but rejected and turned in their hearts to Egypt, 40 saying to Aaron ‘Make for us gods which shall go before us, for this Moses who led us out of the land of Egypt, we know not what happened to him.’ 41 And they made a calf in those days and conducted a sacrifice to the idol and rejoiced in the works of their hands. 42 Then Yahweh turned, and gave them over to serve the hosts of the heaven just as it is written in a book of the prophets: ‘Have you offered to Me victims and sacrifices, forty years in the desert, house of Israel? 43 And you have taken up the habitation of Moloch and the star of the god Rompha, the images which you have made to worship them, and I shall move you beyond Babylon.’

44 “The habitation of witness was with our fathers in the desert just as He speaking to Moses prescribed to make it, according to the model which he had seen. 45 Which also our fathers who succeeded brought in with Joshua into the possession of the nations which Yahweh expelled before the face of our fathers until the days of David, 46 who found favor before Yahweh and asked to find a dwelling-place in the house of Jakob, 47 and Solomon built a house for Him. 48 But the Highest does not dwell in things made by hand, just as the prophet says: 49 ‘The heaven is for Me a throne, and the earth a footstool for My feet. What sort of house will you build for Me? says Yahweh, or where is the place of My resting? 50 Has not My hand made all of these things?’ 51 Stiff-necked and uncircumcised in hearts and in ears! Always do you resist the Holy Spirit, as your fathers, also you! 52 Which of the prophets have your fathers not persecuted? And they killed those who announced beforehand concerning the coming of the Just One, of whom you have now been betrayers and murderers, 53 who have received the law by arrangement of messengers yet have not kept it!”

54 And hearing these things their hearts were cut through, and they snarled at him. 55 Then being filled with the Holy Spirit, gazing at the heaven he saw the effulgence of Yahweh, and Yahshua standing at the right hand of Yahweh, 56 and he said “Behold! I see the heavens have opened and the Son of Man stands at the right hand of Yahweh!” 57 And crying with a great voice, clasping their ears then they hastened upon him with one accord. 58 And casting him outside of the city they stoned him. And the witnesses laid aside their garments by the feet of a young man named Saulos, 59 and being stoned Stephanos calling out then said “Prince Yahshua, receive my spirit!” 60 And kneeling down he cried out with a great voice, “Prince, You should not account this error to them!” And saying this he fell asleep. VIII1 And Saulos was consenting to his death.

And there came in that day a great persecution upon the assembly in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the lands of Judaea and Samareia, except the ambassadors. 2 And pious men retrieved Stephanos and held a great mourning for him. 3 Then Saulos outraged the assembly, entering into each of the houses, dragging away men and women he delivered them into the prison.

4 So then those who were scattered went through announcing the good message of the Word. 5 And Philippos having descended into the city of Samareia proclaimed the Christ to them. 6 And the crowds being spoken to by Philippos were attentive with one accord for which to hear him and to see the signs which he made. 7 For many of those having unclean spirits, crying out with a great voice they came out, and many who were paralyzed and lame had been healed. 8 And there was much joy in that city.

9 Then a certain man named Simon who beforetime in that city was practicing magic and astonishing the people of Samareia, saying of himself to be somebody great, 10 to whom they were all attentive, from the least unto the greatest, saying “This is the great power of God being called.” 11 And they were attentive to him because of the considerable time which he astonished them by magic arts. 12 But when they believed in the good message being announced by Philippos concerning the Kingdom of Yahweh and the Name of Yahshua Christ, they were immersed both men and women. 13 Then Simon himself also believed and being immersed was adhering to Philippos, astonished seeing both the signs and great works of power being produced.

14 And the ambassadors in Jerusalem hearing that Samareia received the Word of Yahweh, sent Petros and Iohannes to them, 15 who going down prayed concerning them, that they would receive the Holy Spirit, 16 for not yet had it fallen upon any one of them, but they had only been immersed in the Name of Prince Yahshua. 17 Then they laid the hands upon them and they received the Holy Spirit. 18 And Simon seeing that through the laying on of the hands of the ambassadors the spirit is given, offered them money 19 saying “Give also to me this authority in order that upon whom I should place the hands he would receive the Holy Spirit.” 20 And Petros said to him “Your silver with you would be for destruction, because you have believed that the gift of Yahweh is to be acquired with money. 21 There is no part nor portion for you in this Word, for your heart is not forthright before Yahweh. 22 Therefore repent from this evil of yours and entreat of the Prince, if then the intention of your heart shall be remitted for you. 23 For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and the bond of unrighteousness.” 24 And replying Simon said “You entreat on my behalf to the Prince that not anything of what you spoke would come upon me.” 25 So then, they affirming with testimony and speaking the Word of the Prince while returning to Jerusalem then announced the good message in many villages of the Samaritans.

26 And a messenger of the Prince spoke to Philippos saying “You must rise up and go about noon by the road which goes down from Jerusalem into Gaza”, which is desert, 27 and arising he went. And behold, a man, an Aethiopian eunuch, an officer of Queen Kandake of the Aethiopians, who was over all of her treasure, who had come to worship in Jerusalem, 28 and he was returning, and sitting upon his chariot, and was reading Isaiah the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said to Philippos “Draw near and you must join to this chariot.” 30 And running up Philippos heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and said “Do you truly understand the things which you read?” 31 And he said “Indeed, how would I be able to if there is no one who could guide me?” And he invited Philippos coming up to sit with him. 32 And the section of the scripture which he read was this: “He was led as a sheep to slaughter, and as a lamb before his shearer is silent, so He opened not His mouth. 33 In humiliation His judgment was taken away. Who shall describe His birth? For His life is taken from the earth!” 34 And responding the eunuch said to Philippos “I ask you, about whom does the prophet speak this? About himself or about some other?” 35 Then Philippos opening his mouth and beginning from this scripture announced to him the good message about Yahshua. 36 And as they were going down the road they came upon some water, and the eunuch said “Behold, water! What prevents me from being immersed?” 38 And he commanded the chariot to stop and they both went down to the water, both Philippos and the eunuch, and he immersed him. 39 And when they had come up from the water, the Spirit of the Prince seized Philippos, and the eunuch did not see him any longer, so he went on his journey rejoicing. 40 And Philippos was found in Azotos, and passing through he announced the good message in all the cities until his coming into Caesareia.

IX 1 And Saulos, still breathing threats even of murder to the students of the Prince, going forth to the high priest 2 requested letters from him to Damaskos to the assembly halls, that if anyone should be found being of the Way, both men and women, being bound he would bring them to Jerusalem.

3 And it came to pass in his traveling, approaching Damaskos, then suddenly there shone around him a light from the heaven, 4 and falling upon the ground he heard a voice saying to him “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?” 5 And he said “Who are you, master?” And He “I am Yahshua, whom you persecute! 6 But you must arise and go into the city and it shall be spoken to you what it is which is necessary for you to do.” 7 And the men traveling with him stood dumb, indeed hearing the voice but seeing nobody. 8 Then Saulos rose up from the ground, and opening his eyes he saw nothing. And being led by the hand he entered into Damaskos. 9 And he was three days not seeing and he did not eat nor drink.

10 And there was a certain student in Damaskos named Hananias, and the Prince said to him in a vision “Hananias!” And he said “Behold, it is I, Prince!” 11 And the Prince said to him “Arising you must go to the street called ‘Straight’ and inquire at the house of Iouda for a Saulos named ‘of Tarsus.’ For behold, he prays 12 and has seen a man in a vision named Hananias entering and laying the hands upon him that his sight may be restored.” 13 And Hananias replied “Prince, I have heard from many concerning this man, how much evil he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem, 14 and thus he has authority from the high priests to bind all of those being called by Your Name.” 15 But the Prince said to him “Go! For he is a vessel chosen by Me who is to bear My Name before both the Nations and kings of the sons of Israel. 16 For I shall indicate to him how much it is necessary for him to suffer on behalf of My Name.” 17 Then Hananias departed and entered into that house and laying the hands upon him said “Saul, brother, the Prince has sent me, Yahshua who appeared to you on the road by which you came, that you should see again and be filled of the Holy Spirit.” 18 And at once there fell from his eyes like scales, then his sight was restored and arising he was immersed 19 and taking food he was strengthened.

Then he was for some days with the students in Damaskos, 20 and immediately he proclaimed Yahshua in the assembly halls, that He is the Son of Yahweh. 21 And all those hearing were astonished and they said “Is this not he endeavoring to destroy those in Jerusalem calling themselves by this name? And has come here for that reason, that binding them he may lead them to the high priests?” 22 But still more was Saulos strengthened, and confounded the Judaeans who were dwelling in Damaskos, instructing that this Man is the Christ.

23 And as considerable days were fulfilled, the Judaeans had taken counsel to kill him. 24 But their counsel was made known to Saulos, and they even watched closely the gates both day and night, that they may kill him. 25 But his students taking him by night sat him in a basket lowering him down by the wall.

26 Then arriving in Jerusalem he tried to join the students, and they all feared him, not believing that he is a student. 27 But taking him Barnabas brought him to the ambassadors, and he described to them how on the road he saw the Prince and that He spoke to him and how in Damaskos he spoke freely in the Name of Yahshua. 28 And he was with them, going in and going out in Jerusalem, speaking freely in the Name of the Prince, 29 he had both spoken to and disputed with the Hellenists, and they endeavored to kill him. 30 But discovering it the brethren brought him down into Caesareia and sent him off to Tarsos. 31 So then the assembly throughout the whole of Judaea and Galilaia and Samareia had peace, being built and going in fear of the Prince, and in comfort of the Holy Spirit it multiplied.

32 And it came to pass that Petros was passing through everywhere, coming down also to the saints who were dwelling in Ludda, 33 and found there a certain man named Aineas who was paralyzed, for eight years lying upon a couch. 34 And Petros said to him “Aineas, Yahshua Christ has healed you! You must arise and straighten yourself out!” And immediately he arose. 35 And all those dwelling in Ludda and Saron who had seen him, as many turned to the Prince.

36 And in Ioppa there was a certain student named Tabitha, which being interpreted is said “Gazelle”. She was full of good deeds and acts of charity which she did. 37 And it happened in those days that she being sick died. And washing her they laid her in an upper room. 38 And as Ludda was near to Ioppa, the students hearing that Petros is in it sent two men to him exhorting him: “You should not hesitate to come through unto us!” 39 And Petros arising went with them, whom arriving they led into the upper room, and present in it were all the widows weeping and exhibiting the shirts and garments Gazelle made as long as she was with them. 40 And casting them all outside Petros then kneeling down prayed and turning to the body said “Tabitha, you must arise!” And she opened her eyes, and seeing Petros she sat up. 41 Then offering her a hand he raised her, and calling the saints and the widows he presented her alive. 42 And it became known throughout the whole of Ioppa, and many believed in the Prince. 43 And he was for considerable days abiding in Ioppa with a certain Simon, a tanner.

X 1 And a certain man in Caesareia named Kornelios, centurion of that cohort called “Italian”, pious and fearing Yahweh with all his house, doing many acts of charity for the people and making requests of Yahweh continually, 3 saw conspicuously in a vision as if about the ninth hour of the day a messenger of Yahweh entering in to him and saying to him “Kornelios!” 4 And staring at him and becoming terrified he said “What is it, master?” Then he said to him “Your prayers and your acts of charity have been brought up for remembrance before Yahweh. 5 And now send men to Ioppa and send for a certain Simon who is called ‘Petros’. 6 He is being hosted by a certain Simon, a tanner, with whom is a house by the sea.” 7 And as the messenger speaking to him departed, he called two of the household servants, and a pious soldier of those who were with him constantly. 8 And explaining all to them he sent them to Ioppa.

9 Then on the next day, upon their traveling and approaching the city, Petros went up upon the roof about the sixth hour to pray. 10 And he became hungry and desired to taste food, and upon their preparing it a trance came upon him. 11 And he beheld the heaven opening and a vessel descending, somewhat as a great linen cloth with four corners being let down upon the earth, 12 in which were all the four-footed creatures and reptiles of the earth and birds of heaven. 13 And a voice came to him: “Arise, Petros! Offer sacrifice, and eat!” 14 And Petros said “Not at all, master, because not ever have I eaten anything profane and unclean.” 15 And a voice again for a second time to him: “The things which Yahweh has cleansed, you do not deem profane!” 16 Then this happened for a third time and forthwith the vessel went up into the heaven.

17 Then as Petros was perplexed within himself, what the vision which he saw could mean, behold, the men who were sent by Kornelios asking around for the house of Simon stood by the gate, 18 and calling out inquired if Simon who is called “Petros” is a guest there. 19 And upon Petros’ considering about the vision, the Spirit said to him: “Behold, three men are seeking you, 20 so arising get down and go with them, not making any distinction, because I sent them.” 21 And Petros going down to the men said “Behold, I am he whom you seek. For what reason is there on account of which you have come?” 22 And they said “Kornelios, a centurion, a man righteous and fearing God, and accredited by the whole nation of the Judaeans, was conferred with by a holy messenger to summon you to his house and to hear words by you.” 23 Therefore inviting them in he lodged them.

Then on the next day arising he went with them, and some of the brethren from Ioppa went with him. 24 And the next day he entered into Caesareia. And Kornelios was expecting them, having invited together his kinsmen and the necessary friends. 25 And it happened that upon the entering of Petros, Kornelios meeting with him falling at his feet worshipped. 26 Then Petros raised him saying “Stand up! I myself also am a man!” 27 And conversing with him he entered in and finds many gathered together, 28 and he said to them: “You know how it is unlawful for a Judaean man to join to or associate with another tribe. Yet Yahweh has explained to me not to call any man profane or unclean. 29 Wherefore having been summoned I came without contradiction. Therefore I ask, on what account have you summoned me?” 30 And Kornelios said “From four days ago about this hour, the ninth, I was praying in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in a shining garment. 31 And he said ‘Kornelios, your prayer is heard and your acts of charity are remembered before Yahweh. 32 Therefore send to Ioppa and summon Simon who is called ‘Petros’. He is a guest in the house of Simon a tanner by the sea.’ 33 Therefore at once I sent to you, and you coming have done rightly. Therefore now we all before Yahweh are ready to hear all the things having been prescribed to you by the Prince.”

34 And Petros opening his mouth said “With truth I comprehend that Yahweh is not a respecter of the stature of persons, 35 but in each nation he fearing Him and performing righteousness is acceptable to Him. 36 He sent the account to the sons of Israel preaching the good message of peace through Yahshua Christ, who is Prince of all. 37 You know the report which came throughout the whole of Judaea beginning from Galilaia with the immersion which Iohannes proclaimed: 38 Yahshua from Nazareth, how Yahweh anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who passed through doing good deeds and healing all those being overpowered by the False Accuser, since Yahweh was with Him. 39 And we are witnesses of all which He did both in the land of the Judaeans and in Jerusalem, whom they then had killed, hanging upon a tree. 40 Him Yahweh raised in the third day and offered Him to be manifest 41 not to all the people, but to those witnesses chosen beforehand by Yahweh, to us, we who ate together and drank together with Him after His resurrection from the dead. 42 And He instructed us to proclaim and to affirm to the people that it is He who is appointed Judge of the living and the dead by Yahweh. 43 To this did all the prophets witness: all those believing in Him are to receive remission for errors through His Name.”

44 As Petros was speaking these sayings the Holy Spirit fell upon all of those hearing the Word. 45 And those believers of the circumcision, as many as had come with Petros, were astonished that also upon the nations is the gift of the Holy Spirit poured out. 46 For they heard them speaking in languages and extolling Yahweh. Then Petros responded 47 “Is any man able to forbid water for them, not to be immersed, who received the Holy Spirit even as we?” 48 And he commanded them to be immersed in the Name of Yahshua Christ. Then they asked him to abide for some days.

XI 1 And the ambassadors and the brethren who were throughout Judaea heard that the nations also accepted the Word of Yahweh. 2 Then when Petros went up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him 3 saying that “You went in with uncircumcised men and ate together with them!” 4 But Petros beginning in order exhibited to them saying: 5 “I was in the city Ioppa praying and saw a vision in a trance, a vessel descending somewhat as a great linen cloth with four corners being let down from the heaven, and came as far as me. 6 At which staring I considered and saw the four-footed creatures of the earth and the beasts and the reptiles and the birds of the heaven. 7 Then I heard a voice saying to me ‘Arise, Petros, offer sacrifice, and eat!’ 8 And I said ‘Not at all, master, because not ever has a profane or unclean thing entered into my mouth.’ 9 But the voice from the heaven answered a second time: ‘The things which Yahweh has cleansed, you do not deem profane!’ 10 And this happened a third time, and everything was drawn up again into the heaven. 11 And behold, at once three men stopped at the house which we were in, those sent to me from Caesareia. 12 Then the Spirit told me to go with them, not making any distinction. And these six brethren also came with me and we entered into the man’s house. 13 And he related to us how he had seen the messenger standing in his house and saying ‘Send to Ioppa, and summon Simon who is called ‘Petros’, 14 who shall speak sayings to you by which you and all of your house shall be preserved.’ 15 And with my beginning to speak the Holy Spirit fell upon them, even as also upon us in the beginning. 16 Then I remembered the saying of the Prince as He spoke: ‘Indeed Iohannes immersed in water, but you shall be immersed in the Holy Spirit.’ 17 Therefore if Yahweh gave to them the same gift as also to us, believing upon the Prince Yahshua Christ, am I anyone who was able to prevent Yahweh?” 18 And hearing these things they were silent and extolled Yahweh saying “Then also to the Nations has Yahweh given repentance for life!”

19 So then those who were scattered from the tribulation which happened after Stephanos had spread so far as Phoenicia and Kupros and Antiocheia speaking the Word to no one except only to Judaeans. 20 And there were among them some Kupriot and Kurenaean men who coming into Antiocheia spoke also to the Hellenists, announcing the good message of the Prince Yahshua. 21 And the hand of the Prince was with them, and a great number of believers were turned to the Prince. 22 And the account was heard in the ears of the assembly which was in Jerusalem concerning them and they sent out Barnabas unto Antiocheia, 23 who arriving and seeing the favor of Yahweh rejoiced and encouraged them all with purpose of heart to remain among the number of the Prince, 24 because he was a good man and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a considerable crowd was added to the Prince. 25 And he departed for Tarsos to search for Saulos, 26 and finding him brought him to Antiocheia. And he came to them even a whole year to gather in the assembly and to teach a considerable crowd. And the students in Antiocheia were first to be labeled “Christians”.

27 And in those days prophets came down from Jerusalem into Antiocheia. 28 And there arose one of them named Hagabos who indicated through the Spirit that a great famine is going to come upon the whole inhabited world, which happened in the time of Klaudios. 29 Then of the students, just as anyone prospered, each of them set aside for supplies to send to those brethren dwelling in Judaea, 30 which they then did, sending to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saulos.

XII 1 Now throughout that time Herodas the king applied his hands to mistreat some of those from the assembly. 2 And he slew Iakobos the brother of Iohannes with a sword. 3 Then seeing that it is pleasing to the Judaeans, he proceeded to seize Petros also (and it was the days of unleavened bread), 4 whom he then laying hold of put into prison, committing him to the four squads of four soldiers to watch him, planning after the Passover to lead him to the people. 5 So then Petros was being kept in the prison, but prayer was fervently being made to Yahweh by the assembly concerning him.

6 Then when Herodas was about to bring him forth, in that night Petros was sleeping between two of the soldiers bound with two chains, and a guard before the door watched the prison. 7 And behold, a messenger of the Prince appeared and a light shone in the building. Then striking the side of Petros he roused him saying “Arise, quickly!” And the chains fell off from his hands. 8 Then the messenger said to him “Gird yourself and fasten your sandals,” and he did thusly. And he says to him “Throw on your garment and follow me!” 9 And departing he followed yet did not know what is happening is actually by the messenger, but he imagined to be seeing a vision. 10 Then going by the first guard, and the second, they came to the iron gate which leads to the city, which opened by itself for them, and going out they advanced one block, and at once the messenger departed from him. 11 And Petros being by himself said “Now I truly know that the Prince dispatched His messenger and delivered me from the hand of Herodas and all of the expectations of the people of the Judaeans!” 12 And understanding it he went by the house of Maria the mother of Iohannes who is called Markos, where there were many gathering and praying. 13 And upon his knocking at the door of the gate a maiden named Rhoda came forth to answer, 14 and recognizing the voice of Petros, because of her joy she did not open the gate, but running in announced that Petros stood by the gate. 15 And they said to her “Are you mad?” But she confidently affirmed it to be so. Then they said “It is his angel.” 16 And Petros continued knocking, and opening they saw him and they were astonished. 17 But he motioning to them with the hand that they be silent, described for them how the Prince delivered him from the prison, and he said “Report these things to Iakobos and to the brethren!” And departing he went to another place.

18 And upon the coming of day there was not a little trouble among the soldiers, what then happened to Petros. 19 And Herodas seeking after and not finding him, examining the guards commanded them to be taken away, and going down from Judaea spent time in Caesareia. 20 And he was disputing angrily with the Turians and Sidonians, but with one accord they came near to him, and persuading Blastos, the chamberlain of the king, they requested peace, because their country was supported by that of the king’s. 21 And on the prescribed day Herodas, being dressed in royal clothing, sitting upon the platform was giving a speech to them. 22 And the people of the land called out “It is a voice of a god and not of a man!” 23 And immediately a messenger of the Prince smote him because he did not give the honor to Yahweh, and he died being eaten by worms.

24 And the Word of Yahweh grew and was multiplied. 25 And Barnabas and Saulos returned to Jerusalem completing the supply, taking along with them Iohannes who is called Markos.

XIII 1 And there were throughout the assembly which was in Antiocheia prophets and teachers, namely Barnabas and Sumeon who is called “Niger” and Loukios the Kurenaian, and Manaen a childhood companion of Herodas the tetrarch, and Saulos. 2 And upon their performing services for the Prince and fasting, the Holy Spirit spoke: “Now set apart for Me Barnabas and Saulos for the work which I have called them.” 3 Then fasting and praying and laying the hands upon them they released them.

4 So then being sent out by the Holy Spirit they went down into Seleukia, and from there sailed off to Kupros 5 and arriving in Salamis they proclaimed the Word of Yahweh in the assembly halls of the Judaeans. And they had Iohannes for an assistant. 6 And passing through the whole island as far as Paphos they found a man, a certain magos, a Judaean false prophet who was named Barjoshua, 7 who was with the proconsul Sergios Paulos, a man with wisdom. He summoning Barnabas and Saulos sought to hear the Word of Yahweh. 8 But Elumas (for thusly is his name interpreted) the magos opposed them seeking to pervert the proconsul from the faith. 9 But Saulos, who also is Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit staring at him 10 said: “O full of all guile and all fraud! Son of the False Accuser, enemy of all righteousness, will you not stop perverting the straight ways of the Prince? 11 And now behold, the hand of the Prince is upon you and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for some time!” Then immediately there fell upon him gloom and darkness and he sought to be led around by a guide. 12 Then seeing that which happened the proconsul believed, being amazed at the teaching of the Prince.

13 And setting sail from Paphos, Paul and those with him came to Perge in Pamphulia, but withdrawing from them Iohannes returned to Jerusalem. 14 Then they passing through from Perge arrived in Pisidian Antiocheia, and entering into the assembly hall on the day of the Sabbaths they sat. 15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets they sent the assembly hall leaders to them saying “Men, brethren, if there is with you any word of encouragement for the people, speak!” 16 And arising Paul then motioning with the hand said, “Men, Israelites, and those fearing Yahweh, listen! 17 The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and raised up the people during the sojourn in the land of Egypt, and with an arm raised high led them out from her. 18 And so for forty years’ time He bear with them in the desert, 19 and destroying seven nations in the land of Chanaan, He gave them their land for an inheritance 20 for about four hundred and fifty years. And in the course of these things He gave judges until Samuel the prophet. 21 And then they demanded a king and Yahweh gave to them Saul, son of Kis, a man from the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. 22 And removing him He raised David for them for a king, at which He also spoke, testifying: ‘I have found David the son of Iessai a man after My heart, who shall do all of My desires.’ 23 From his offspring Yahweh, according to a promise, brought to Israel a savior: Yahshua, 24 Iohannes proclaiming before the appearance of His presence an immersion of repentance to all the people of Israel. 25 And as Iohannes fulfilled his course he said ‘Who do you suspect me to be? I am not! But behold, He comes after me of whom I am not worthy to remove the sandals from His feet!’ 26 Men, brethren, sons of the race of Abraham, those among you fearing Yahweh, to us was this word of salvation dispatched! 27 Indeed those dwelling in Jerusalem and their leaders, not knowing Him and the voices of the prophets being read throughout every Sabbath, judging Him have fulfilled them. 28 And finding not any guilt for death they demanded of Pilatos for Him to be killed. 29 And as they completed all the things which are written concerning Him, taking Him down from the beam they laid Him in a tomb. 30 But Yahweh raised Him from the dead, 31 who appeared over many days to those who went up with Him from Galilaia to Jerusalem, who are now His witnesses to the people. 32 And we announce the good message to you, the promise having come to the fathers, 33 that this has Yahweh fulfilled to our children, raising up Yahshua as also in the second Psalm it is written: ‘You are My Son, today I have engendered You!’ 34 And because He raised Him from the dead, no longer going to return to corruption, thusly He said that ‘I shall give to You the holy things assured to David.’ 35 On which account also in another He says: ‘You shall not give Your Sanctioned One to see corruption.’ 36 For indeed David serving his own generation by the will of Yahweh slept and was placed with his fathers and has seen corruption. 37 But He whom Yahweh has raised has not seen corruption. 38 Therefore it must be known by you, men, brethren, that through this for you is remission of errors declared, and because of all whom were not able to be justified by the law of Moses, 39 by this all who are believing are justified. 40 Therefore you watch, lest that spoken by the prophets may come: 41 ‘You behold, despisers! And wonder, and hide from sight! Because I work a work in your days, a work which you shall by no means believe even if someone related it to you!’”

42 And upon their going out they exhorted them for which to speak these words to them after the Sabbath. 43 Then upon the assembly hall’s being discharged many of the Judaeans and pious converts followed Paul and Barnabas, who speaking with them persuaded them to continue in the favor of Yahweh. 44 Then on the coming Sabbath nearly all the city gathered to hear the Word of the Prince. 45 And the Judaeans seeing the crowd were filled of jealousy and were blaspheming, contradicting the things being spoken by Paul. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas speaking openly said: “To you it was necessary to speak the Word of Yahweh first. Since you have rejected Him and judge yourselves not worthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the people! 47 For thusly the Prince commanded us: ‘I have placed you for a light of the Nations, for you to be salvation unto the end of the earth.’”

48 And hearing the people rejoiced and extolled the Word of the Prince, and as many as were appointed to eternal life had believed. 49 And the Word of the Prince was carried throughout the whole land. 50 And the Judaeans urged on some of the noble pious women and first men of the city and aroused a persecution against Paul and Barnabas and ejected them from their borders. 51 And they shaking off the dust of their feet upon them went into Ikonion, 52 and the students were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.

XIV 1 And it happened in Ikonion that upon them entering into the assembly hall of the Judaeans and speaking thusly, that a great multitude of both the Judaeans and the Greeks were believing. 2 But the disbelieving Judaeans were aroused and befouled the souls of the people against the brethren. 3 So then they spent a considerable time speaking openly in reference to the Prince, in attesting to the Word of His favor giving signs and wonders to happen through their hands. 4 But the multitude of the city was divided, and some were with the Judaeans, but some were with the ambassadors. 5 And as there came an attack of both the people and the Judaeans with their rulers to outrage and to stone them, 6 seeing it they fled for refuge into the cities of Lukaonia, Lustra and Derbe and the surrounding area, 7 and there they were announcing the good message.

8 And a certain man sat in Lustra, powerless in the feet, lame from the womb of his mother, who never did walk. 9 He heard the speaking of Paul, who looking at him and seeing that he had faith for which to be saved 10 said with a great voice: “Arise upon your feet upright!” And he leapt and walked about. 11 Then the crowds seeing that which Paul had done raised their voice in Lukaonian saying “The gods being like men have come down to us!” 12 And they called Barnabas “Zeus”, and Paul “Hermes” since he was conductor of the Word. 13 And the priest of that Zeus which is before the city, bringing bulls and garlands by the gates with the crowds desired to sacrifice. 14 But the ambassadors Barnabas and Paul hearing it, tearing their garments sprung forth to the crowd screaming 15 and saying “Men! What are these things which you do? We also are men, being of like nature with you! Announcing the good message to you, from these vanities to turn to Yahweh who lives, ‘Who has made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all things which are in them.’ 16 Who in generations having passed allowed all of the Nations to go in their own ways. 17 And yet doing good He did not leave Himself without witness, from heaven giving to you rain and fruitful seasons, your hearts being filled of food and merriment.” 18 And saying these things hardly did they stop the crowds, for which not to make sacrifice to them.

19 Then Judaeans came forth from Antiocheia and Ikonion, and persuading the crowds and stoning Paul they dragged him outside of the city, believing him to be dead. 20 And upon the students’ surrounding him, arising he went into the city. And the next day he went out with Barnabas into Derbe. 21 And announcing the good message in that city and many becoming students, they returned to Lustra and to Ikonion and to Antiocheia 22 reinforcing the spirits of the students, encouraging them to abide in the faith and that it is necessary through many tribulations for us to enter into the Kingdom of Yahweh. 23 And elders being elected by them in each assembly, praying with fasting they presented them in whom they had confidence with the authority. 24 And passing through Pisidia they came into Pamphulia, 25 and speaking the Word in Perge they went down into Attaleia, 26 and from there sailed off to Antiocheia, where they were commended with the favor of Yahweh for the work which they completed. 27 Then coming and gathering together the assembly they reported as much as Yahweh had done with them and that He opened the door of the faith to the Nations. 28 And they spent not a little time with the students.

XV 1 And some had come down from Judaea teaching the brethren that if you would not be circumcised in the custom of Moses, you are not able to be saved. 2 Then upon there coming no little discord and debate by Paul and Barnabas against them, they ordered Paul and Barnabas and some of the others among them to go up to Jerusalem to the ambassadors and elders concerning this debate. 3 So then being sent forth by the assembly they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, relating the turning of the Nations and brought about great joy among all the brethren. 4 And arriving in Jerusalem they were received by the assembly and the ambassadors and the elders, and reported as much as Yahweh had done with them. 5 Then there arose some who were persuaded by the sect of the Pharisees, saying that it is necessary to circumcise them and to instruct them to keep the law of Moses.

6 Then the ambassadors and the elders gathered together to see concerning this account. 7 And there being much debate, Petros arising said to them: “Men, brethren, you know that from the first days Yahweh has chosen among you through my mouth for the Nations to hear the account of the good message and to believe. 8 And Yahweh who knows the heart has accredited them to give the Holy Spirit just as also to us. 9 And distinguishing nothing between both us and them, by faith He cleanses their hearts. 10 Therefore now why tempt Yahweh to place a yoke upon the necks of the students which neither our fathers nor us have been able to bear? 11 But through the favor of Prince Yahshua we trust to be saved by the manner as they also.” 12 Then all the multitude was silent, and they heard Barnabas and Paul relating as many signs and wonders as Yahweh had done among the Nations through them. 13 And after their silence Iakobos responded saying “Men, brethren, you listen to me! 14 Sumeon has declared just how at the first Yahweh considered to take from among the Nations a people in His Name. 15 And with this the words of the prophets agree just as it is written: 16 After these things ‘I shall return’ and ‘I shall rebuild the tent of David which has fallen and I shall rebuild its ruins and I shall set it up again, 17 that those remaining of men seek Yahweh, and all the Nations whom have My Name labeled upon them, says Yahweh doing these things 18 known from of old.’ 19 On which account I judge not to trouble those from among the Nations who turn to Yahweh, 20 but to enjoin them to abstain from things polluted by idols and from fornication and from that which is strangled and from blood. 21 For Moses from generations of old has those who are proclaiming him in each city in the assembly halls, being read each and every Sabbath.”

22 Then it was determined by the ambassadors and the elders with the whole assembly to send men chosen from among them to Antiocheia with Paul and Barnabas: Iouda who is called Barsabbas and Silas, a man esteemed among the brethren, 23 writing through their hand:

“The ambassadors and the elder brethren to those brethren among the Nations throughout Antiocheia and Suria and Kilikia, Greeting. 24 Since we have heard that some coming out from among us have troubled you with words, ravaging your souls with things which we have not ordered, 25 it was determined by us, being of one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, 26 men who have given their souls on behalf of the Name of our Prince Yahshua Christ. 27 So we have sent Iouda and Silas and they by word announcing these things. 28 For it was determined by the Holy Spirit and by us to impose not any greater burden upon you but these necessities, 29 to abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled, and from fornication, from which keeping yourselves you shall do well. Farewell.”

30 So then they being released went down into Antiocheia, and gathering together the multitude they handed over the letter. 31 And reading it they rejoiced at the encouragement. 32 Then Iouda and Silas also themselves being interpreters of prophecy with many words encouraged and reinforced the brethren, 33 and spending a time they were released with peace from the brethren to those who sent them. 35 Then Paul and Barnabas spent time in Antiocheia teaching and announcing the good message of the Word of the Prince with many others also.

36 Then after some days Paul said to Barnabas: “Now turning we should visit the brethren throughout every city in which we declared the Word of the Prince, how they sustain.” 37 And Barnabas was resolved to take along also Iohannes who is called Markos. 38 But Paul thought it fitting not to bring him along, who withdrew from them from Pamphulia and did not go together with them to the work. 39 And there was irritation, consequently for them to depart from each other, and for Barnabas taking Markos to sail off to Kupros. 40 But Paul selecting Silas departed, he being given in favor of the Prince by the brethren. 41 And they passed through Suria and Kilikia reinforcing the assemblies.

XVI 1 And then they arrived in Derbe and in Lustra. And behold, there was a certain student there with the name Timotheos, a son of a faithful Judaean woman, but of a Greek father, 2 who was accredited by the brethren in Lustra and Ikonion. 3 And Paul desired for him to depart with him, and taking him he circumcised him on account of the Judaeans who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek. 4 And as they passed through the cities, they transmitted to them to keep the opinions decided by the ambassadors and elders who are in Jerusalem. 5 So then the assemblies were strengthened in the faith and abounded in number each day.

6 And they passed through the region of Phrugia and Galatia, being prevented by the Holy Spirit to speak the Word in Asia. 7 Then coming by Musia, they attempted to go into Bithunia, yet the Spirit of Yahshua did not allow them. 8 And passing by Musia they went down into the Troad. 9 And during the night a vision appeared to Paul: a certain man of Makedon was standing and exhorting him and saying “Crossing over into Makedonia, help us!” 10 And as he saw the vision, immediately we sought to depart for Makedonia, concluding that Yahweh had summoned us to announce the good message to them.

11 And setting sail from the Troad we ran a straight course to Samothrake, and on the next day to New City 12 and from there to Philippos, which is the first city of the district of Makedonia, a colony. And we spending time were in that city some days. 13 And on the day of the Sabbaths we departed outside of the gate by the river, which we supposed to be for prayer, and sitting we spoke to the women gathered there. 14 And there was a certain woman named Ludia, a seller of purple cloth from the city of Thuateira, respecting Yahweh, who listened, who’s heart the Prince opened to heed the things being spoken by Paul. 15 And as she and her house were immersed, she exhorted saying “If you have judged me to be faithful in the Prince, entering into my house you stay.” And she compelled us.

16 And it came to pass upon our going to the prayer, a certain slave girl having a spirit of a python met with us, who produced much business for her masters by divining. 17 She following after Paul and us cried out saying “These men are servants of Yahweh the highest, who declare to you the way of salvation!” 18 And this she did for many days. Then Paul being quite troubled and turning to the spirit said “I order you in the Name of Yahshua Christ to depart from her!” And it departed at that same moment. 19 And her masters seeing her, because the hope of their business departed, taking Paul and Silas they dragged them into the market before the rulers, 20 and bringing them to the chief magistrates they said “These men agitate our city, being Judaeans, 21 and they declare customs which are not lawful for us to receive nor to do, being Romans!” 22 And the crowd stood up against them and the chief magistrates tearing off their garments commanded them to be beaten. 23 And laying upon them many blows they cast them into prison ordering the jailer to keep them securely, 24 who receiving such an order cast them into the inner cell and secured their feet in stocks. 25 And about midnight Paul and Silas praying were praising Yahweh, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Then suddenly a great earthquake came, so as to shake the foundations of the jailhouse, and immediately all the doors were opened and all the fetters let go. 27 And the jailer coming from sleep and seeing the doors of the prison opened, drawing a sword was about to slay himself, believing the prisoners to have fled away. 28 But with a great voice Paul cried out saying “Do nothing evil to yourself! For we are all here!” 29 And requesting a light he burst in and coming trembling fell before Paul and Silas, 30 and leading them outside he said “Masters, what is necessary for me to do that I be saved?” 31 And they said “Believe in the Prince Yahshua and you and your house shall be saved.” 32 And they spoke to him the Word of the Prince with all those in his house. 33 And taking them at that hour of the night he washed their wounds, and he and all those of his were immersed immediately, 34 and bringing them up to the house he provided a table and they rejoiced with all the house believing in Yahweh. 35 Then day coming the chief magistrates sent to the bailiffs, saying “Release those men.” 36 And the jailer announced those words to Paul, that “the chief magistrates sent in order that you be released, so now departing you go in peace.” 37 And Paul said to them: “Flaying us in public, being uncondemned Roman men, they cast us into prison, and now secretly they would cast us out? Indeed not! Rather coming, they themselves must lead us out!” 38 Then the bailiffs announced these words to the chief magistrates, and they were afraid, hearing that they are Romans. 39 And coming they summoned them and leading them out asked them to depart from the city. 40 And departing from the prison they went to Ludia and seeing the brethren encouraged them and they departed.

XVII 1 And traveling through Amphipolis and Apollonia they came to Thessalonika where there was an assembly hall of the Judaeans. 2 And as was customary with Paul, he entered into them and for three Sabbaths argued with them from the writings, 3 explaining and presenting that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to be resurrected from the dead and that “this is Christ Yahshua whom I declare to you.” 4 And some from among them believed, and put their lot with Paul and with Silas, also a great multitude of the pious Greeks, of the women and not a few of the leaders. 5 Then the Judaeans being jealous and taking certain wicked men from the markets making a riot threw the city into confusion and coming upon the house of Iason sought them to lead them before the people. 6 And not finding them they dragged Iason and some brethren before the rulers of the city, crying that “They who have been upsetting the inhabited world are also come here, 7 whom Iason received. And they all act against the decrees of Caesar, declaring Yahshua to be another king!” 8 And they troubled the crowd and the rulers of the city hearing these things, 9 yet taking security from Iason and the others they released them.

10 Then the brethren forthwith sent off Paul and Silas by night to Beroia, who departed arriving in the assembly hall of the Judaeans. 11 These were of more noble a race than those in Thessalonika, who accepted the Word with all eagerness, each day examining the writings, if these things would hold thusly. 12 So the many from among them believed, and of the noble Greek women and men not a few. 13 And as the Judaeans from Thessalonika learned that the Word of Yahweh was also declared by Paul in Beroia, they came there also stirring up and agitating the crowds. 14 And then at once the brethren sent Paul away to go as far as to the sea, but both Silas and Timotheos remained there. 15 But those conducting Paul led him unto Athens, and they went out taking an order to Silas and Timotheos that they should come to him quickly.

16 Then upon Paul’s awaiting them in Athens, his spirit within him was irritated, observing that the city was given to idolatry. 17 So then he argued in the assembly hall with the Judaeans and the worshippers, and in the marketplace throughout each day with those who happened by. 18 And even some of the Epikoureians and the Stoiks loving wisdom engaged with him, and some said “What does this babbler mean to say?”, but others “He seems to be a declarer of strange gods”, because he announced Yahshua and the resurrection. 19 Then seizing him they led him to Ares’ hill saying “Are we able to know what this new doctrine is which is being spoken by you? 20 For you have brought some astonishing things into our ears! Therefore we wish to know what these things are meant to be.” 21 Now all the Athenians and the sojourning guests spent their leisure time for nothing other than to say something or to hear something more novel.

22 Then Paul standing in the middle of the hill of Ares said: “Men, Athenians, I observe that in all respects you are most superstitious! 23 For passing through and considering your objects of worship I found even an altar upon which was inscribed ‘To The Unknown God’. So that which is unknown you reverence, this I declare to you: 24 God who made the order and all the things in it. He being Prince of heaven and earth does not dwell in temples made by hand. 25 Neither is He attended by the hands of men, being in need of anything, Himself giving to all life and breath and all things. 26 And He made from one every nation of men to dwell upon all the face of the earth, appointing the times ordained and the boundaries of their settlements, 27 to seek God. If surely then they would seek after Him then they would find Him, and indeed He being not far from each one of us.

28 “For in Him we live and we move and we are, even as some of the poets have said concerning you, ‘For we also are of His offspring.’ 29 Therefore being the offspring of God we are not obligated to esteem gold or silver or stone, engraved crafts and of the inventions of man, to be like that of a god. 30 So therefore the times of ignorance God is overlooking. Now altogether He instructs men everywhere to repent. 31 For that He has established a day in which He is going to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness, by a man whom He has appointed, having provided an assurance to all: raising Him from the dead.”

32 And hearing of a resurrection of the dead some then mocked him, but others said “We shall hear you concerning this also again.” 33 Thusly Paul departed from their midst. 34 And some men joining themselves to him believed, among whom were Dionusios the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

XVIII 1 After these things departing from Athens he went into Korinth. 2 And finding a certain Judaean named Akulas, of Pontus by birth, recently having come from Italy, and Priskilla his wife, on account of Klaudios ordering all of the Judaeans to depart from Rome, he went with them 3 and because being in the same trade he abode with them and they worked, for they were tentmakers by trade. 4 And he argued in the assembly hall during each Sabbath and persuaded Judaeans and Greeks. 5 And as both Silas and Timotheos came down from Makedonia, Paul was impelled by the Word, affirming to the Judaeans Yahshua to be the Christ. 6 But upon their opposition and blaspheming, shaking off the garments he said to them “Your blood is upon your heads! I now, clean of this, shall go to the people!” 7 And removing from there he went into a house of someone named Titos Ioustos, a worshiper of Yahweh whose house was abutting the assembly hall. 8 And Krispos the leader of the assembly hall believed in the Prince with his whole house, and many of the Korinthians hearing believed and were immersed. 9 And in the night the Prince said to Paul in a vision “Do not fear, rather speak and do not be silent, 10 because I am with you and no one shall make an attempt upon you for which to do you evil, since many people are with Me in this city.” 11 And he sat for a year and six months teaching among them the Word of Yahweh.

12 Then with Gallion being proconsul of Achaia, the Judaeans with one accord rose up against Paul and led him before the judgment seat 13 saying that “Contrary to the law he convinces men to worship God!” 14 And Paul being about to open his mouth, Gallion said to the Judaeans: “Now if there was any injustice or wicked crime, O Judaeans, according to reason I would support you. 15 But if it is disputes about words and names and the law according to you, you see to them. I have no desire to be a judge of these things.” 16 And he drove them away from the judgment seat. 17 Then they all taking Sosthenes the leader of the assembly hall, beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallion cared for not any of these things.

18 Then Paul remaining thereafter many days with the brethren, making arrangements sailed away to Suria, and Priskilla and Akulas with him, cutting the hair from his head in Kenchreae, for he had a vow. 19 And they arrived in Ephesos, and he left them, then he himself entering into the assembly hall conversed with the Judaeans. 20 And upon their asking him to remain for a longer time, he did not assent, 21 rather making arrangements and saying “Again I shall return to you, Yahweh willing,” he set sail from Ephesos. 22 And coming back into Caesareia, going up and greeting the assembly he went down into Antiocheia. 23 And spending some time he departed, passing through successively the land of Galatia and Phrugia, confirming all of the students.

24 And a certain Judaean name Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, a learned man, arrived in Ephesos, who was capable in the writings. 25 He was instructed in the way of the Prince and being fervent in spirit he spoke and taught precisely the things concerning Yahshua, knowing only the immersion of Iohannes. 26 And he began to speak openly in the assembly hall. And Priskilla and Akulas hearing him took him aside and more precisely exhibited the way of Yahweh to him. 27 And upon his wishing to pass through to Achaia, the brethren wrote to the students urging them to accept him, who arriving greatly helped those who believed through favor. 28 For vigorously did he thoroughly confute the Judaeans in public, exhibiting through the writings Yahshua to be the Christ.

XIX 1 And it came to pass, with Apollos being in Korinth, Paul had passed through the highlands to come down into Ephesos and finding certain students 2 then said to them “So believing have you received the Holy Spirit?” And they to him “Rather we have not heard if there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he said “In what have you been immersed?” And they said “In the immersion of Iohannes.” 4 Then Paul said “Iohannes immersed with an immersion of repentance for the people saying in Him coming after him that they should believe, that is in Yahshua.” 5 And hearing they were immersed in the Name of Prince Yahshua, 6 and with Paul’s laying hands upon them came the Holy Spirit upon them, and they spoke in languages and prophesied. 7 And they were in total about twelve men.

8 Then entering into the assembly hall he spoke openly for three months discussing and persuading concerning the Kingdom of Yahweh. 9 And as some were hardened and unpersuaded speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, withdrawing from them he separated the students, each day conversing in the school of Turannos. 10 And this happened for two years, consequently for all those dwelling in Asia to hear the Word of the Prince, both Judaeans and Greeks. 11 And Yahweh brought about extraordinary feats of power through the hands of Paul, 12 so that even for handkerchiefs or sashes to be brought from his flesh to those who were sick and to be relieved from their diseases, and the wicked spirits made to depart.

13 Then certain of the vagabond Judaean exorcists also attempted to call the Name of Prince Yahshua upon those having wicked spirits, saying “I adjure you by Yahshua whom Paul proclaims!” 14 And there were seven sons of a certain Judaean high priest Skeua doing this. 15 But the wicked spirit answered: it said to them “Now I know Yahshua, and I am acquainted with Paul, but who are you?” 16 Then the man in whom was the wicked spirit springing upon them overpowering both prevailing against them and so naked and having been wounded to flee from that house. 17 And this became known to all those dwelling in Ephesos, both Judaeans and Greeks, and fear fell upon them all and the Name of Prince Yahshua was magnified. 18 And many of those who believed came confessing and reporting their practices. 19 And many of those practicing curiosities gathering their books burned them before all, and they totaled their value and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 Thusly according to the power of the Prince the Word grew and prevailed. 21 And as he completed these things, Paul was set in the Spirit passing through Makedonia and Achaia to go to Jerusalem, saying that after my being there it is necessary for me also to see Rome. 22 And sending into Makedonia two of those ministering with him, Timotheos and Erastos, he stayed for a time in Asia.

23 And there came about that time no little trouble concerning the Way. 24 For a certain silversmith named Demetrios making silver temples of Artemis, which provided the craftsmen not a little business, 25 whom gathering also the workmen concerning such things said “Men, you know that from this business there is wealth for us. 26 And you observe and you hear that not only of Ephesos but of nearly all of Asia this Paul persuading has changed a considerable crowd saying that they are not gods, which are being produced by hands. 27 And not only does he endanger this share for us to come into disrepute, but also the temple of the great goddess Artemis is to be accounted for nothing and is also going to destroy her majesty which the whole of Asia and the inhabited world worships!” 28 Then hearing and being filled with anger they cried out saying “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” 29 And the city was filled with confusion, and they rushed with one accord into the theater, seizing Gaios and Aristarchos, Makedonians, fellow travelers of Paul’s. 30 And upon Paul’s wishing to enter into the people, the students did not allow him. 31 And some of the Asiarchs, being friends with him, sending to him exhorted him not to give himself up into the theater. 32 So then others cried out something different, for the assembly was confused and the greater number knew not for what reason they had come together. 33 And from the crowd they brought up Alexandros, the Judaeans putting him forth, and Alexandros motioning with the hand wished to speak in defense to the people. 34 But recognizing that he is a Judaean, one voice arose from all, crying out for about two hours “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” 35 And a scribe putting the crowd to order said “Men, Ephesians! Now who is there of men who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is custodian of the great Artemis, and that which is fallen from Zeus? 36 Therefore these things being undeniable, it is proper for you to be keeping order and not to do anything rash. 37 For you have brought these men who are neither temple robbers nor blasphemers of our goddess. 38 So then if Demetrios and those craftsmen with him have a matter against anyone, the markets are open and there are proconsuls, let them accuse each other. 39 But if you seek after anything further, it shall be resolved in the lawful assembly. 40 For even we risk being accused of sedition concerning this day, there not being any reason in regard to which we are able to give account about this gathering.” And saying these things he discharged the assembly.

XX 1 And after the cessation of the tumult Paul sending after and encouraging the students, saluting them departed to go into Makedonia. 2 And passing through those parts and encouraging them with many words he went into Greece. 3 And spending three months, there being a plot against him by the Judaeans, being about to set sail for Suria he became knowledgeable, for which to return through Makedonia. 4 And there followed along with him Sopatros of Purros Beroia, and the Thessalonikeans Aristarchos and Sekoundos, and Gaios of Derbe and Timotheos, and the Asians Tuchikos and Trophimos. 5 And these going ahead waited for us in the Troad, 6 but we sailed out from Philippos after the days of unleavened bread and we came to them in the Troad after five days, where we spent seven days.

7 And on the first day of the week upon our gathering to break bread Paul conversed with them, being about to leave the next day, his speech extended until midnight. 8 And there were many dormers in the upper room where we were gathered. 9 And there was a certain young man named Eutuchos sitting by the window, being weighed down in deep sleep. Upon Paul’s conversing further, weighed down by sleep he fell down from the third story and was taken for dead. 10 But going down Paul fell upon him and embracing him said “Do not be troubled, for his life is in him.” 11 Then going up and breaking bread and eating and talking at length until dawn, thusly he departed. 12 And they brought the youth alive and were comforted without measure.

13 Then we going ahead by ship set sail for Assos, there going to pick up Paul. For thusly making arrangements he himself was going to walk. 14 And as he met with us in Assos, picking him up we went to Mitulene. 15 And from there sailing off the next day we arrived opposite Chios, and on the next came by to Samos, then on the following we came into Miletos. 16 For Paul decided to sail past Ephesos in order that it would not happen for him to waste time in Asia. For he hastened, if it would be possible for him, to be in Jerusalem at the day of the Pentecost.

17 And from Miletos sending to Ephesos he called for the elders of the assembly. 18 And as they came to him he said to them: “You know from the first day from which I set foot in Asia, how I had been at all times with you, 19 serving the Prince with all humility and tears and trials befalling me by the plots of the Judaeans, 20 how I withheld nothing of advantage, for which not to report to you and to teach you publicly and at each house, 21 affirming both to Judaeans and to Greeks repentance to Yahweh and faith in our Prince Yahshua. 22 And now behold, I having been bound by the Spirit go into Jerusalem not knowing the things which shall meet me in her, 23 but that the Holy Spirit in each city affirmed to me saying that bonds and tribulations await me. 24 But not of any account do I make life valuable for myself, that I shall complete my course and the service which I received from Prince Yahshua to affirm the good message of the favor of Yahweh. 25 And now behold, I know that no longer shall you see my face, all of you among whom I passed proclaiming the Kingdom. 26 On which account I testify to you on this day today that I am clean from the blood of all. 27 For I have not withheld, for which not to report all of the will of Yahweh to you. 28 You take heed for yourselves and for all the flock, over which the Holy Spirit appointed you overseers to tend to the assembly of Yahweh, which He preserved for Himself by His own blood. 29 I know that after my departure oppressive wolves shall come in to you, not being sparing of the sheep! 30 And from among you men shall arise speaking distortions for which to draw away the students after themselves. 31 On which account you be alert, remembering that for three years night and day I did not stop with tears admonishing every one. 32 And now I commit you to Yahweh and to the Word of His favor, which is able to build and to give the inheritance which is in all those being sanctified. 33 I have lusted after no one’s silver or gold or clothing. 34 You yourselves know that my needs and those who were with me were supported by these hands. 35 I have shown all things to you, that laboring thusly it is necessary to assist those who are feeble, and to remember the words of Prince Yahshua, that He said ‘It is blessed to give rather than to receive.’” 36 And saying these things upon his kneeling with all of them he prayed. 37 And there was considerable weeping by all and falling upon the neck of Paul kissing him, 38 being distressed especially by the word which he spoke, that no longer are they going to see his face. And they escorted him to the ship.

XXI 1 And it came to pass, we setting sail being drawn away from them, running a straight course came to Kos, and thereafter to Rhodos and from there to Patara, 2 then finding a ship going across to Phoenicia, boarding we set sail. 3 And Kupros coming into view and leaving it behind on the left we sailed to Suria and arrived at Turos. For there the ship was unloading the freight. 4 Then discovering students we abode with them for seven days, whom said to Paul through the Spirit not to set foot in Jerusalem. 5 And when it came for us to finish the days, departing we went, all of them escorting us with women and children as far as outside of the city, and kneeling upon the shore praying 6 we saluted each other and boarded into the ship, and they returned to their own affairs.

7 And we completing the voyage from Turos arrived in Ptolemaïs and greeting the brethren stayed with them for one day. 8 And on the next day departing we came into Caesareia and entering into the house of Philippos the preacher of the good message, being from of the seven, we stayed with him. 9 And with him there were four maiden daughters who prophesy. 10 And upon abiding many days there came down from Judaea a certain prophet named Hagabos, 11 and coming to us and taking Paul’s belt, binding his own feet and hands said “Thus says the Holy Spirit: the man whose belt this is, thusly the Judaeans in Jerusalem shall bind and they shall deliver him into the hands of the heathens.” 12 And as we heard these things, both we and they of the place exhorted him for which not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul responded “What do you do, weeping and breaking my heart? For I not only to be bound but even to die in Jerusalem readily hold fast on behalf of the Name of Prince Yahshua!” 14 And upon his not being persuaded we kept silence, saying that the will of the Prince must be.

15 Then after those days getting prepared we went up to Jerusalem, 16 and the students from Caesareia came with us, bringing Mnason a certain Kupriot, a student from the beginning with whom we would lodge. 17 And upon our coming into Jerusalem, the brethren gladly accepted us.

18 And on the next day Paul went in with us to Iakobos, and all the elders were present. 19 And greeting them he explained about each one of those things which Yahweh had done among the Nations through his ministry. 20 And those hearing it extolled Yahweh and said to him: “You consider, brethren, how many myriads there are among the Judaeans who are believing, and all being zealous of the law. 21 And they are informed concerning you, that you teach departure from Moses for the Judaeans throughout all the Nations, saying for them not to circumcise the children nor to walk in the customs. 22 So what is it? By all means they shall hear that you have come. 23 Therefore do this which we say to you. There are among us four men having a vow upon themselves. 24 Taking them you must be purified with them and pay the expense for them that they shave their heads, and all shall know that that which they are informed concerning you is nothing, but that you yourself also walk in line keeping the law. 25 And concerning those of the Nations who believe, we deciding have commanded them to avoid both that which is sacrificed to idols and blood and strangled and fornication.” 26 Then Paul taking the men on the following day being purified with them, went into the temple giving notice of the fulfillment of the days of purification until when the offering is offered on behalf of each one of them.

27 And as the seven days were about to be completed, the Judaeans from Asia seeing him in the temple confused all the crowd and laid the hands upon him 28 crying out “Men, Israelites, help! This is the man who against the people and the law and this place is teaching all everywhere, and further also has brought Greeks into the temple and profaned this holy place!” 29 For they had before seen Trophimos the Ephesian in the city with him, whom they believed that Paul had brought into the temple. 30 Then the whole city was aroused, and there was a tumultuous concourse of the people, and seizing Paul they dragged him outside of the temple and immediately closed the doors. 31 And seeking to kill him, a report went up to the commander of the cohort that the whole of Jerusalem was in confusion, 32 who at once taking soldiers and centurions ran down to them, and they seeing the commander and the soldiers stopped beating Paul. 33 Then approaching the commander took him and ordered him to be bound with two chains, and inquired who he may be and what it is that he was doing. 34 But others among the crowd called out something different. And upon his not being able to know with certainty because of the tumult, he ordered him to be brought into the encampment. 35 And when he came to the stairs it happened to him to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd, 36 for the multitude of the people followed crying out “Kill him!”

37 Then being about to enter into the encampment Paul says to the commander “Is it possible for me to say something to you?” And he said “You know Greek? 38 Then you are not the Egyptian who was before these days making an upset and leading out into the desert four thousand men of the Assassins?” 39 And Paul said “I am a Judaean man, of Tarsos of Kilikia, a citizen of no obscure city. Now I ask of you to allow me to speak to the people.” 40 And upon his allowing him Paul standing upon the stairs motioned with the hand to the people. And there coming a great silence he spoke out in the Hebrew language, saying:

XXII 1 “Men, brethren and fathers, you hear now my answer to you!” 2 And hearing that he called out to them in the Hebrew language, still more they held silent. And he said: 3 “I am a Judaean man, having been born in Tarsos of Kilikia, but raised in this city, having been educated at the feet of Gamaliel in accordance with the exactness of the law of the fathers, being zealous of God just as all of you are today, 4 who had persecuted this Way unto death, binding and giving over into prison both men and women, 5 as even the high priest bears witness for me, and all the body of elders, from whom also I had gone to Damaskos, receiving letters to the brethren, and bringing those who were there bound to Jerusalem that they may be punished. 6 And it happened to me traveling and approaching to Damaskos about midday that suddenly from heaven a great light shone around me. 7 Then I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me ‘Saul, Saul why do you persecute Me?’ 8 And I replied ‘Who are you, master?’ Then He said to me ‘I am Yahshua the Nazoraian, whom you persecute.’ 9 And they who were with me surely beheld the light, but for the voice they did not understand that being spoken to me. 10 Then I said ‘What shall I do, Master?’ And the Prince said to me, ‘Arising go into Damaskos and there it shall be spoken to you concerning all things which are assigned for you to do.’ 11 And since I saw nothing because of the effulgence of that light, led by the hand by those who were with me I came into Damaskos. 12 And a certain Hananias, a devout man in accordance with the law, accredited by all of the Judaean settlers, 13 coming to me and standing by said to me ‘Saul, brother, see again!’ And I at that moment looked up at him, 14 and he said: ‘The God of our fathers undertook for you to know that of His will and to see the Just One and to hear a voice from His mouth, 15 that you would be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard. 16 And now what should you do? Arise to be immersed and to wash away your errors, being called by His Name.’ 17 Then it happened upon my returning into Jerusalem and my praying in the temple for me to be in a trance 18 and to see Him saying to me ‘Hastening then depart quickly from Jerusalem, because they will not receive your testimony concerning Me!’ 19 And I said ‘Prince, they know that I was imprisoning and flaying those believing in You throughout the assembly halls, 20 and when they spilled the blood of Stephanos Your witness, even I myself was standing by and consenting, and keeping the garments of those slaying him!’ 21 And He said to me ‘Go, because I shall send you off to distant nations.’”

22 Now they listened until this word, and raised their voice saying “Take such as him from the earth! For it is not fit that he lives!” 23 Then upon their crying out and hurling their garments and throwing dirt into the air, 24 the commander ordered him to be brought into the encampment, saying to interrogate him with a whip that he may discover for what reason they addressed him thusly. 25 And as they held the thongs out at him, Paul said to the appointed centurion: “If a man is a Roman and uncondemned, is it lawful for you to whip him?” 26 And hearing it the centurion going to the commander reported it saying “What are you about to do? For this man is a Roman!” 27 And coming forth the commander said to him “Tell me, are you a Roman?” And he said “Yes.” 28 Then the commander replied “I with great sum acquired this citizenship.” And Paul said “But I likewise was born.” 29 So forthwith those about to interrogate him withdrew from him, and the commander feared, finding out that he is a Roman and that he was bound.

30 And on the next day, wishing to know with certainty why he was accused by the Judaeans, he released him and ordered the high priests and all the council to gather together, and bringing down Paul he stood before them. XXIII 1 And Paul staring at the council said “Men, brethren, I have lived as a free citizen with all good conscience before Yahweh unto this day.” 2 And the high priest Hananias commanded those standing by him to strike his mouth. 3 Then Paul said to him “Yahweh is about to strike you, you whitened wall! That you sit judging me according to the law and transgressing the law you order me to be struck?” 4 And they standing by said “Do you rebuke the high priest of God?” 5 And Paul said “I knew not, brethren, that he is high priest. For it is written that ‘You shall not speak badly of a ruler of the people.’” 6 Then Paul perceiving that the one part are of the Sadducees but the other of the Pharisees cried out in the council, “Men, brethren, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees! Concerning hope and resurrection of the dead am I judged!” 7 And upon his saying this there came a discord among the Pharisees and Sadducees and the multitude was divided. 8 For indeed the Sadducees say that there is not to be a resurrection, nor are there messengers nor a spirit, but Pharisees confess both things. 9 And there came a great cry, and some of the scribes from the part of the Pharisees arising contended saying “We find nothing evil in this man, even if a spirit or messenger spoke to him!” 10 Then upon there being a great discord, the commander being fearful lest Paul would be torn apart by them ordered the soldiers going down to snatch him from their midst and to bring him into the encampment. 11 And in the following night the Prince standing by him said “Take courage, for as you affirmed the things concerning Me in Jerusalem, thusly it is necessary also for you to affirm in Rome.”

12 And day coming, the Judaeans having made a gathering took a vow upon themselves saying neither to eat nor to drink until when they would kill Paul. 13 And those making this conspiracy were more than forty, 14 whom going to the high priests and the elders said “We have vowed a curse upon ourselves to taste not any food until when we would kill Paul. 15 So now you exhibit to the commander with the council how he should bring him down to you as if being about to discern more precisely the things concerning him, but we before his approach are ready to slay him.” 16 And a son of the sister of Paul hearing of the ambush, coming and entering into the encampment reported it to Paul. 17 And Paul summoning one of the centurions said “Bring this young man to the commander, for he has something to report to him.” 18 So then taking him he brought him to the commander and said “The prisoner Paul summoning me asked for this young man to be brought to you, having something to say to you.” 19 And the commander taking his hand and withdrawing asked privately “What is it which you have to report to me?” 20 And he said that “the Judaeans contrived for which to ask you, that tomorrow you may bring Paul down to the council as if going to inquire something more precise concerning him. 21 However you should not be persuaded by them. For more than forty men from among them set an ambush for him, who have taken a vow upon themselves neither to eat nor to drink until when they would kill him, and now they are ready, expecting a promise from you.” 22 Therefore the commander released the young man, instructing him “to divulge to no one that these things have been made manifest to me.” 23 And summoning a certain two of the centurions he said “Prepare two hundred soldiers, that they may go as far as Caesareia, and seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen, by the third hour of the night, 24 and beasts at hand in order that Paul being mounted upon them arrives safely to Phelix the governor”, 25 he wrote a letter having this outline: 26 “Klaudios Lusias to the most noble governor Phelix, greeting. 27 This man having been seized by the Judaeans and being about to be killed by them, appearing with the soldiers I delivered him, learning that he is a Roman. 28 And wishing to discover the reason by which they accused him, I brought him down to their council, 29 which I found accusing him concerning inquires of their law, and having not one accusation worthy of death or of bonds. 30 Then that there would be a plot against the man having been disclosed to me, at once I sent him to you, also instructing the accusers to speak against him before you.”

31 So then the soldiers, in accordance with that being appointed them, taking up Paul led him by night towards Antipatris. 32 And upon morning permitting the horsemen to depart with him, they returned to the encampment, 33 who entering into Caesareia and giving forth the letter to the governor, presented Paul to him also. 34 And having read it and asking which province he is from, and learning that he is from Kilikia, 35 “I shall be your hearer,” he said, “when your accusers also arrive,” giving orders to keep him in the headquarters of Herodas.

XXIV 1 And after five days the high priest Hananias came down with some of the elders and a certain orator Tertullos, who appeared to the governor against Paul. 2 And upon his being called, Tertullos began to accuse him, saying: “Having obtained much peace on account of you, and reforms coming to this nation by your foresight, 3 in every way and in every place we approve, noble Phelix, with all gratitude. 4 But in order that I do not hinder you further, I exhort you in your fairness to hear us briefly. 5 For this man is found a pest and stirring up a sedition among all the Judaeans throughout the inhabited world, and a leader of the sect of the Nazoraians, 6 who also attempted to profane the temple and whom we took hold of, 8 from whom you yourself should be able, examining him concerning all these things, to discover that which we accuse him of.” 9 And the Judaeans also joined in alleging these things to be so.

10 And Paul responded, the governor indicating for him to speak: “Knowing of your being judge for this nation many years, cheerfully do I answer the things concerning myself, 11 of which you are able to discover since there are not more than twelve days with me from which I went up into Jerusalem for worshipping. 12 And neither finding me in the temple arguing with anyone or making a gathering of a crowd, not in the assembly halls nor throughout the city, 13 neither are they able to prove to you the things which they now accuse me of. 14 But I profess this to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, thusly I serve the God of the fathers, believing in all things throughout the law and which are written in the prophets, 15 having hope in God, which also they themselves expect, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust. 16 And in this do I exercise myself: to have a conscience void of offense before Yahweh and men continually. 17 And after many years I came making acts of charity and offerings to my nation, 18 among which they found me being purified in the temple, not with a crowd nor with a tumult. 19 But certain Judaeans from Asia, whom it had been necessary to have present before you and to make accusation if they should have anything against me, 20 or they themselves must speak of any unrighteousness they found upon my standing before the council, 21 whether concerning this one utterance which I cried out standing among them, that ‘concerning the resurrection of the dead I am judged by you today.’”

22 And Phelix adjourned them, knowing more precisely the things concerning the Way he said “When Lusias the commander comes down, I shall decide the things against you,” 23 appointing the centurion to keep him, and to have license, and not to forbid anyone of his acquaintances to assist him.

24 And after some days, Phelix arriving with his wife Drousilla who is a Judaean, sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ Yahshua. 25 And upon his arguing concerning righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Phelix becoming fearful responded “You have to go now, but taking time I shall call you back,” 26 at the same time also hoping that money would be given him by Paul, on which account also sending for him more often he conversed with him. 27 Then upon the completion of two years, Porkios Phestos received the succession from Phelix, and desiring to bestow a favor upon the Judaeans, Phelix left Paul bound.

XXV 1 So Phestos having stepped into the government, after three days he went up into Jerusalem from Caesareia, 2 and the high priest and the leaders of the Judaeans appeared to him against Paul and exhorted him, 3 requesting a favor by him, that he would summon him to Jerusalem, making an ambush to kill him on the road. 4 So then Phestos replied to keep Paul in Caesareia, and himself to be about to go out shortly, 5 “Therefore those among you,” he said, “who are able to come down together, if there is anything out of place with the man must bring an accusation against him.”

6 And spending among them not more than eight or ten days, going down into Caesareia, the next day sitting upon the judgment seat he ordered Paul to be brought. 7 And upon his arriving there stood about him the Judaeans who came down from Jerusalem, bringing down many and severe charges which they were not able to prove, 8 upon Paul’s answering in defense that “Neither against the law of the Judaeans nor against the temple nor against Caesar have I done anything wrong.” 9 But Phestos wishing to bestow a favor upon the Judaeans, replying to Paul said “Do you wish, going up to Jerusalem, to be judged there by me concerning these things?” 10 And Paul said “By the judgment seat of Caesar I am standing, where it is proper for me to be judged. I have done nothing wrong to the Judaeans, as even you well recognize. 11 So then if I am a wrongdoer and have done anything worthy of death, I do not ask to be excused from dying. But if there is nothing of these things which they accuse me, no one is able to gratify them. I appeal to Caesar!” 12 Then Phestos conversing with the council answered “You have appealed to Caesar. To Caesar you shall go!”

13 And some days passing, Agrippas the king and Bernika arrived in Caesareia greeting Phestos. 14 And as they spent many days there, Phestos referred to the king the things about Paul saying “There is a certain man left behind by Phelix in bonds, 15 concerning whom upon my coming into Jerusalem the high priests and the elders of the Judaeans appeared requesting a judgment against him. 16 To whom I replied that it is not a custom with the Romans to give any man freely before when he being accused would have the accusers face to face and would receive opportunity for a defense concerning the charges. 17 Therefore upon their coming here, not making any delay the next day sitting upon the judgment seat I ordered the man to be brought, 18 concerning whom the accusers standing brought not any charge of which I suspected evil, 19 but they had certain disputes with him concerning their own religion and concerning a certain Yahshua who is dead whom Paul asserts is living. 20 And I being perplexed concerning the dispute of these things said that if he wished, to go into Jerusalem and there to be judged concerning these things. 21 But upon Paul’s appealing for him to be kept for a decision by Sebastos, I ordered him to be kept until when I shall send him up to Caesar.” 22 Then Agrippas to Phestos: “I have wished also to hear the man myself.” “Tomorrow,” he said, “you shall hear him.”

23 So the next day, Agrippas and Bernika coming with much fanfare and entering into the auditorium with the commanders and eminent men of the city, then upon Phestos’ order Paul was brought forth. 24 And Phestos said: “King Agrippas, and all those men who are here with us, see him concerning whom all the multitude of the Judaeans entreated me both in Jerusalem and here, crying out that it is no longer fitting for him to live! 25 But I comprehended him to have done nothing worthy of death, yet he himself having appealed to Sebastos, I have decided to send him. 26 Concerning which I do not have anything certain to write with authority, on which account I have brought him before you, and especially before you, King Agrippas, that upon there being an examination, I would have something that I may write. 27 For it seems to me irrational, sending a prisoner and not indicating the charges against him.”

XXVI 1 And Agrippas said to Paul: “It is permitted for you to speak concerning yourself.” Then Paul extending the hand spoke in reply: 2 “Concerning all things of which I am charged by the Judaeans, King Agrippas, I regard myself blessed for being about to speak in defense before you today, 3 especially since you are one that knows of all of the customs and disputes among the Judaeans, on which account I beg to hear me patiently. 4 Now indeed my manner of living from youth which had from the first been among my nation and in Jerusalem all the Judaeans know, 5 knowing me from the beginning, if they would wish to testify, that according to the most precise sect of our worship I have lived a Pharisee. 6 And now for the hope of the promise having been made by God to our fathers I stand being judged, 7 for which our twelve tribes serving in earnest night and day hope to attain, concerning which hope I am charged by the Judaeans, King: 8 Why is it judged incredible by you, if God raises the dead? 9 Now then I myself supposed it necessary, regarding the Name of Yahshua the Nazoraian, to do many things against, 10 which even I had done in Jerusalem, and then many of the saints I had shut up in prison, receiving authority from the high priests, and upon their being slain I had cast a vote. 11 And throughout all the assembly halls many times punishing them, I compelled them to blaspheme and being exceedingly mad at them pursued them even as far as the cities outside. 12 Upon which things going into Damaskos with the authority and a commission of the high priests 13 I saw at midday during the journey, King, shining around me and those traveling with me a light from heaven beyond the brilliance of the sun. 14 And upon all of us falling down to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me in the Hebrew language: ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me? It is hard for you to kick against the pricks.’ 15 And I said ‘Who are you, master?’ And the Prince said ‘I am Yahshua, whom you persecute, 16 but you must rise and stand upon your feet. For this have I appeared to you, for you to be a chosen assistant and witness both of the things you have seen by Me and of the things I shall reveal to you, 17 taking you out from among the people and from the nations to whom I send you, 18 to open their eyes, for which to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of the Adversary to God, for them to receive a remission of errors and a portion with those being sanctified by the faith which is in Me.’ 19 Wherefore, King Agrippas, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, 20 but to both those in Damaskos first, then to those in Jerusalem, then all the region of Judaea and to the Nations I announced to repent and to turn to God doing deeds worthy of repentance. 21 Because of these things the Judaeans seizing me in the temple attempted to take me in hand. 22 However obtaining assistance from God, unto this day I have stood bearing testimony to both the small and the great, saying nothing outside of the things which both the prophets and Moses said are going to happen, 23 whether the Christ was to suffer, whether first from a resurrection from the dead is a light going to be declared to both the people and to the Nations.”

24 And upon his speaking these things in reply, Phestos with a great voice said “Paul, you are mad! Your great learning has turned you to madness!” 25 But Paul “I am not mad, as it is said, noble Phestos, but the words which I utter are of truth and discretion. 26 For the king knows about these things, to whom also I speak being freespoken. For any of these things to escape his notice I am not persuaded at all, indeed it is not in a corner that this had been done! 27 You do believe, King Agrippas, in the prophets? I know that you believe.” 28 Then Agrippas to Paul: “In brief do you persuade me to be made a Christian?” 29 And Paul: “I would have prayed to God that in brief and at length not only you but also all those hearing me today are to be such as of this manner that also I am, except for these bonds.” 30 Then the king arose, and the governor and Bernika and those who gathered with them 31 and departing they spoke to each other saying that this man does nothing worthy of death or bonds. 32 And Agrippas said to Phestos: “This man was able to have been released, if he had not appealed to Caesar.”

XXVII 1 And as it was decided for us to sail off to Italy, they turned Paul and some other prisoners over to a centurion named Ioulios of the cohort of Sebastos. 2 And boarding into a ship of Adramuttios being about to sail to places throughout Asia we set sail, there being with us Aristarchos, a Makedonian of Thessalonikea. 3 And on the next day we landed in Sidon, and Ioulios treating Paul friendlily permitted him going to his friends to obtain care. 4 And setting sail from there we sailed beneath Kupros on account of there being opposing winds, 5 and sailing through the sea by Kilikia and Pamphulia we landed in Mura of Lukia. 6 And the centurion finding there an Alexandrian ship sailing to Italy he boarded us into it. 7 And with considerable days sailing slowly and hardly coming by Knidos, the wind not allowing us to approach we sailed beneath Krete by Salmone, 8 and barely sailing by it we came to a certain place called Fair Havens which was near to a city, Lasaia.

9 And passing considerable time and already it being dangerous for the voyage, because the fast had already passed, Paul recommended, 10 speaking to them “Men, I perceive that the voyage is going to be with injury and much damage not only of the freight and the ship but even of our lives!” 11 But the centurion was rather persuaded by the pilot and the ship-owner than by the things spoken by Paul. 12 And the haven being inconvenient for spending the winter, the majority voted counsel to set sail from there, if somehow they would be able arriving to winter in Phoinix, a harbor of Krete looking towards the southwest and towards the northwest.

13 Then with the south wind blowing gently, supposing the proposal to have prevailed, taking off they sailed by close to Krete. 14 But not much later there cast against her a tempestuous wind, which is called eurakulon, 15 and upon the ship’s being seized and carried and not able to face the wind giving up we were borne along. 16 And being run below a certain island called Kauda we were barely able to attain full control of the skiff, 17 which taking up they used supports undergirding the boat, and fearing lest they should run aground in the Surtis, lowering the vessel thusly they were borne along. 18 And upon our being driven violently by the storm the next day they made a discharge of cargo, 19 and on the third day by hand they cast out the implements of the ship, 20 and neither the sun nor stars shining forth for many days, and no small winter storm laying upon us, all hope remaining of us being preserved was taken away.

21 And being long without food then Paul standing in the midst of them said: “Indeed it was necessary, O men, to have been obedient to me, not to set sail from Krete and to gain this injury and damage. 22 And the things I recommend to you now, be of good cheer, for there shall not be one loss of a life from among you, except of the ship. 23 For there stood by me in this night from God, whose I am, whom also I serve, a messenger 24 saying ‘Do not fear, Paul! It is necessary for you to stand before Caesar. And behold, Yahweh has granted to you all of those sailing with you!’ 25 On which account you be of good cheer, men. For I believe in God, that thusly it shall be according to which manner He has spoken to me. 26 Now into a certain island it is necessary for us to run aground.”

27 Then as the fourteenth night of our being carried about in the Adriatic came, about the middle of the night the sailors suspected some land to be drawn near to them. 28 And casting a weighted line they found it twenty fathoms, but going a distance and again casting they found it fifteen fathoms. 29 And fearing lest somehow we should run aground upon rough places, casting four anchors from the stern they prayed for day to arrive. 30 And upon the sailors’ seeking to flee from the ship and lowering the skiff into the sea with the pretense as if from the bow they were going to extend anchors, 31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers “If they do not remain in the ship, you shall not be able to be preserved!” 32 Then the soldiers cut loose the ropes of the skiff and allowed it to fall away.

33 And until when day was about to come, Paul encouraged all to take food, saying “Today is fourteen days you have continued waiting without food, taking nothing, 34 on which account I encourage you to partake of food. Indeed this is for your preservation, for from not one of you shall a hair of the head be lost.” 35 And saying these things and taking wheat-bread he gave thanks to Yahweh before all and breaking it he began to eat. 36 And all being made cheerful then took food themselves. 37 And we were all the souls in the ship two hundred seventy six. 38 And being filled of food they lightened the ship, casting out the grain into the sea.

39 Then when day came, they did not recognize the land, but they observed a certain bay having a beach onto which they determined, if they should be able, to drive out the ship. 40 And stripping off the anchors letting them into the sea, while letting go the yokes of the rudder and raising the foresail for the blowing wind, they pressed for the beach. 41 And falling towards a place between two seas they ran the ship ashore, and while the bow being fixed firmly remained unwavering, yet the stern was broken up by the force. 42 And there was a plan by the soldiers that they should slay the prisoners, lest any swimming away would escape. 43 But the centurion, wishing to save Paul, prevented them from the plan, and ordered those who were able to swim to be thrown off first to get to land, 44 and the rest while some were upon planks, yet others were upon things from the ship. And thusly it came to pass that all arrived safe upon the land.

XXVIII 1 And arriving safely then we learned that the island is called Melita, 2 and the barbarians exhibited no common kindliness to us, for igniting a fire, they assisted all of us on account of the pressing rain and on account of the cold. 3 And upon Paul’s gathering some number of sticks and setting them upon the fire, a viper coming out from the heat attached to his hand. 4 And as the barbarians saw the beast hanging from his hand, they said to each other “This man is absolutely a murderer, who passing safely from the sea justice does not allow to live!” 5 So then shaking the beast off into the fire he suffered not any evil, 6 but they were expecting him to be about to become swollen or to suddenly fall down dead. Yet upon their long expecting and observing nothing wrong happening to him, instead they said for him to be a god.

7 And among those about that place was an estate which belonged to the leader of the island, named Poplios, who receiving us kindly hosted us for three days. 8 And the father of Poplios was laying down, having been stricken with fever and dysentery, to whom Paul entering into and praying for, laying the hands upon him cured him. 9 And upon this happening then the rest of those in the island having sicknesses came forth and were healed, 10 who also honored us with many honors and setting sail provided for the things necessary.

11 And after three months we set sail in an Alexandrian ship which had wintered in the island, with the ensign of the Dioskouri, 12 and landing in Surakousae we stayed three days, 13 from which coming around we arrived in Rhegion. And after one day upon the south wind’s coming, on the second we came into Potioloi, 14 where finding brethren we were exhorted by them to remain for seven days, and thusly we came into Rome. 15 And the brethren from there hearing things about us came for a meeting with us as far as Appios Forum and the Three Inns, whom seeing, Paul giving thanks to Yahweh took courage. 16 And when we came into Rome, Paul was permitted to remain by himself with the soldier guarding him.

17 And it came to pass that after three days there were summoned to him those who were leaders of the Judaeans. And upon their gathering he said to them: “I, brother men, doing nothing against the people or the customs of the fathers, have been delivered a captive from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans, 18 who examining me wished to release me because of there not being any guilt of death in me. 19 But upon the Judaeans’ speaking in opposition I was compelled to appeal to Caesar, not as if having anything to accuse my nation of. 20 Therefore for this reason I have summoned you, to see and to speak with you: for because of the hope of Israel I am wrapped in this chain!” 21 But they said to him “We have not received letters from the Judaeans concerning you, nor have any of the brethren arriving reported or spoken anything bad about you. 22 But we think it worthy to hear from you the things which you think, since concerning this sect it is known to us that it is spoken against everywhere.”

23 And arranging a day with him many came into the lodging to him, to whom he affirming exhibited the Kingdom of Yahweh, and persuading them concerning Yahshua both from the law of Moses and the prophets, from early until evening. 24 And indeed some were persuaded by the things being spoken, but some did not believe. 25 And not being in agreement with each other they were released upon Paul’s speaking one word, that “Well did the Holy Spirit speak through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers, 26 saying ‘You must go to this people and say: Hearing you shall hear and should by no means understand, and looking you shall look and should by no means see! 27 For the hearts of this people are grown fat, and with the ears they hear with difficulty, and their eyes have closed, that at no time should they see with the eyes, and hear with the ears, and understand in their hearts, that they should repent, and I shall heal them.’ 28 Therefore it must be known by you, that to the Nations is this salvation of Yahweh sent, and they shall listen!”

30 And he abode for two whole years in his own hired house and received all those coming in to him, 31 proclaiming the Kingdom of Yahweh and teaching the things concerning the Prince Yahshua Christ with all freespokenness unhindered.
